One last push for signs of the lost Viking as the Fara Heim crew embarks on their most ambitious mission yet. With Mack's departure, the remaining members of the team come across a site that is unquestionably human made. But is this the site they are looking for? Time is running out as this season finale looks to rewrite the history books.

The final expedition begins, as the Fara Heim crew search for physical proof of the lost Viking quest over 500 years ago. A trapper's letter and map from 1929 may hold the key to what happened to the Viking travelers. On the map is a stone cairn, perhaps holding the remains of a member of the lost Vikings. But is the old map accurate? And can they reach the cairn site as bears, weather, and an unforgiving landscape ruin their best laid plans.

Wildfires ravage Canada's North, throwing a wrench into the crew's northern expedition plans. With a lack of planes, helicopters, and supplies the group must find ways to overcome these issues. Meanwhile, Johann makes a trip to pick up special equipment as Mack and David uncover the history of which Explorer's Club Flag they will bring on their final expedition.

The search for the lost Viking continues, with the team venturing further into Minnesota lore as residents offer up theories of what happened to the lost Viking; the team is led to multiple sites where remnants of the lost Viking voyage may reside, including a frozen lake; as their vehicle breaks through the ice, the team is forced to backtrack to home base and refocus to plan their larger expedition.
