Birmingham City teenager Jude Bellingham is reportedly close to agreeing a move to Borussia Dortmund despite interest from Premier League giants Manchester United.
Bild (via Goal) reported Dortmund have been in “advanced talks” with the Blues in their bid to sign the 16-year-old, who could move to the Bundesliga this summer for $38.5 million (£30 million).
It would appear as though the transfer is falling into place after Goal’s Ronan Murphy also cited Bild and added personal terms are already agreed with the player:
United have been linked with the England under-17 international in recent transfer windows, but it looks as though Dortmund’s interest could gazump their competitors in the summer window.
Bellingham made his senior debut for boyhood club Birmingham in August 2019, starting in all but seven of his 34 professional appearances for the club thus far.
The teenager has showed he can thrive in a number of midfield positions, featuring just as effectively through the central channels as he can on either left or right flanks.
The Stourbridge native has blossomed in the Championship this season and proved he belongs at the senior level, scoring four goals and recording three assists in 31 league appearances.
It’s possible Dortmund sense the possible departure of former Manchester City academy starlet Jadon Sancho and see Bellingham as successor on his right wing. However, it’s also possible the Black and Yellows merely see the player as the latest addition to their legion of youth stars.
