On Friday afternoon, the first team to appear in the SEC Tournament final will be decided as eighth-seeded LSU takes on fifth-seeded Missouri/fourth-seeded Arkansas at Jane B. Moore Field. The Tigers made it through to the semifinal game after pulling off a huge upset over top-seeded Tennessee in a narrow 2-1 victory on Thursday. The win was credited to Kelley Lynch in the circle after she struck out five batters in 4.2 innings, giving up only five hits and one earned run. Ali Newland plated Sierra Daniel to give LSU a 1-0 lead in the first. Taylor Pleasants brought home the second run with a two-out RBI single in the top of the fifth, and although the Lady Vols countered with a run in the bottom of the inning, the Tigers held on to keep the dream of an SEC Tournament title alive.

Missouri made it through to the semifinals after defeating Arkansas in a 3-1 game. The two teams began their quarterfinal game on Thursday night before the game was suspended due to thunderstorms with Missouri leading 2-1. This morning, the teams resumed play in the fifth inning and Mizzou quickly plated a run to make it 3-1. Marissa McCann was brought in to get the team through the sixth inning and managed to escape a no-outs, bases loaded situation to bring in Taylor Pannell who earned the save. Maddie Gallagher hit a clutch RBI double to bring home Jenna Laird in the first and Laird plated Kayley Lenger in the fifth. Laird came home right as the game resumed on Friday to give her team some insurance which lasted until the game concluded.

When LSU and Missouri met during regular season play, Missouri snagged the first tewo games with 10-9 and 3-2 wins, respectively, before LSU won the third game 4-3. Friday’s game should be an exciting one as the winner will claim the final spot in the title game and the loser will head home.
