The Premier League summit is beckoning for Manchester City when it visits Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday hoping to advance its ambitions of collecting a domestic double this season. Pep Guardiola’s men weathered a storm against Chelsea on Saturday to reach the final of this year’s FA Cup, and they can move two points ahead of title rivals Arsenal and Liverpool with a win at the Amex Stadium. Brighton has failed to win any of its last four Premier League outings and lost 3-0 to the Gunners in its last home contest but will look to replicate (or better) its 1-1 draw against City in this fixture on the final day of last season.

The Seagulls held City at home in May 2023 after Julio Enciso soured Guardiola’s end to the league campaign with a goal-of-the-season-worthy equalizer on the south coast.
Fast forward to today and Robert De Zerbi’s men have struggled to produce the same luster, winning just one of their last seven league fixtures.
Despite being knocked out of the Champions League quarter-finals, the Citizens put some smiles back on their faces after Bernardo Silva bagged a late winner at Wembley on Saturday:
City reaped the benefits of its patience despite being under massive pressure for the vast majority of that semi-final, and the club will now face bitter rival Manchester United in next month’s final.
Erling Haalans is still expected to be sidelined for the league clash, meaning Julian Alvarez will continue to deputize up top for City, while John Stones is a doubt after he was injured against Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Enciso won’t have the chance to add to his City plunder given he’s on the Brighton treatment table, along with the likes of Evan Ferguson, Pervis Estupinan, Solly March, Kaoru Mitoma and Jack Hinshelwood.
