Florida and Missouri will continue their SEC series on Saturday afternoon in women’s softball action.
In the second game of a three-game series number, No. 14 Missouri will host No. 9 Florida at Mizzou Softball Stadium. The Gators come into Saturday’s game with an overall record of 24-8 and a conference record of 9-4. The team has now dropped two games in a row with the most recent being a 6-3 loss to Missouri in yesterday’s series opener. Korbe Otis hit a single in the top of the first inning to score Skylar Wallace for the Gators. Then, in the top of the second, the Gators added a second run when Ava Brown homered to center field. The Tigers tied things up in the second, but Florida regained the lead with a single from Reagan Walsh. The team maintained the lead until the sixth inning, but Keagan Rothrock hit Alex Honnold with a pitch and it started off a four-run inning for the Tigers that would result in a Gators loss.

The Tigers bring a three-game win streak into today’s matchup after yesterday’s victory to bring their overall record to 32-10 and their conference record to 6-7. The team showed grit yesterday as it was able to rally in the bottom of the second and tie the game before finishing with a four-run inning to win it. Kayley Lenger was hit by a pitch in the second with bases loaded to score Julia Crenshaw. Later in the inning, Jenna Laird hit a sacrifice infield fly scoring Stegania Abruscato. In the sixth inning, Lenger singled scoring Claire Cahalan before Honnold was hit by a pitch that brought home Danielle Blackstun. Maddie Gallagher singled scoring Lenger to complete a three-run rally. Earning the win for the Tigers was Marissa McCann who pitched 3.0 innings allowing one hit and three strikeouts.
