Johns Hopkins and Rutgers will meet in New Jersey on Sunday in men’s lacrosse action.
On Sunday afternoon, No. 18 Rutgers will host No. 11 Johns Hopkins at SHI Stadium for the Big Ten opener. The Scarlet Knights come into Big Ten play with an overall record of 6-2 so far this season. The team’s most recent game was played against UMass last weekend and resulted in a narrow 10-9 victory. Shane Knobloch scored three goals and added one assist to lead the Rutgers’ offense with his four-point performance. Ross Scott added two goals to the scoreboard while Colin Kurdyla supported offensive play with three assists and one goal. Cardin Stoller came up with 19 saves in net for the Scarlet Knights to earn the win.

While Rutgers earned a 10-9 win its last time out, Johns Hopkins dropped a 10-9 game to Navy last weekend in overtime. The loss was the team’s second in a row and brings its overall record to 5-3. Against the Midshipmen, Garrett Degnon led the offense with three goals and Jacob Angelus added two assists to the attack. Chayse Ierlan played in net for the Blue Jays and made nine saves, but couldn’t stop the overtime goal that cost the team the game.
When these two teams met last year in Big Ten play, Johns Hopkins earned a 16-12 victory at home in Maryland.
