Ole Miss and Mississippi State will meet in a rivalry match on Saturday night in SEC play.
On Saturday night, Ole Miss will host No. 22 Mississippi State for game two of their SEC series in Starkville. The Rebels have struggled this season and come into Saturday night’s contest on an eight-game losing streak to bring their overall record to 18-16 and their conference record to 3-10 for a spot in sixth place in the SEC West standings. Last night’s series opened resulted in a tough 8-0 shutout in front of a crowd of 11,277. The Bulldogs held the Rebels to just three hits that came from Jackson Ross, Will Furniss and Brayden Randall, however, none of them would make it home. Riley Maddox took the loss after giving up five earned runs in 5.1 innings of work.

The Bulldogs are sitting in third place in the SEC West standings with a conference record of 7-6 and an overall record of 22-12. The team has won two straight games after last night’s 8-0 victory on the road. Dakota Jordan hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning to extend the game to 3-0 while David Mershon added two RBI late in the sixth after hitting a single that scored two. Khal Stephen earned the win on the mound for Mississippi State with eight innings in which he struck out nine batters and only gave up three hits.
