The Detroit Tigers try to continue their strong start against the defending World Series Champion Texas Rangers.
On Monday, the Detroit Tigers (9-6) begin their second four-game series of an eight-game homestand, when they host the Texas Rangers (8-8) at Comerica Park. Over the weekend they hosted the Minnesota Twins, and split the four-game set. After Thursday’s season opener was rained out the Tigers won the new ‘opener’ 8-2. Minnesota swept Saturday’s doubleheader, with one game going to 12 innings. Detroit struck back on Sunday though, winning the series finale 4-3. Right fielder Mark Canha hit a key two-RBI double late in that game to help get the Tigers over the top.

Pitching has been a big part of Detroit’s success early in the season. As a staff the Tigers have a 3.14 ERA which ranks fourth in all of Major League Baseball. Righty Reese Olson will start this game for Detroit, while righty Michael Lorenzen will start for the Rangers.
The Rangers were in Houston over the weekend for a three-game set against the Astros. Texas took one of the three games in a high-scoring series. They won 12-8 in the series opener, before losing 9-2 and 8-5.
First pitch Monday night is set for 6:40 p.m. ET. Coverage begins at 6:30 on Bally Sports Oklahoma.
