Chicago Cubs host the Colorado Rockies at Wrigley Field on Monday afternoon in their home opener

The Chicago Cubs (1-2) are at Wrigley Field on Monday afternoon for their home opener when they host the Colorado Rockies (1-3). The Cubs’ starting rotation, already down Jameson Taillon (back) took another hit in their opener when left-hander Justin Steele strained a hamstring fielding a bunt. He’s expected to miss the rest of April. Colorado reliever Daniel Bard, who saved 34 games in 2022, landed on the 15-day injured list while recovering from a cleanup procedure on his left knee in mid-February. The Rockies opened the season by dropping three of four to the Arizona Diamondbacks while Chicago lost two of three to the defending champion Texas Rangers.
