NFL Power Rankings After Week 9

We are halfway through the NFL season and a few teams are starting to prove that they are Super Bowl contenders, while a bunch are stuck in the middle. At the bottom, there are already a group of teams already battling it out for the top pick in the draft.

Before we get into the second part of the season let’s take a look at our latest power rankings.

1. Philadelphia Eagles 8-1

Last Week 1

The Eagles proved again that they are the team to beat in the NFC when they beat the division-rival Cowboys on Sunday afternoon. A 14-point third quarter secured the win for the Eagles and they now have a two-and-a-half-game lead in the NFC East.

2. Baltimore Ravens 7-2

Last Week 3

The Ravens dominated the Seahawks on Sunday and are starting to prove that they deserve to be in the conversation as the best team in the AFC. When Lamar Jackson is playing well, they are a very dangerous team and that is exactly what is happening. They have won four in a row and next up is two straight home games against the Browns and Bengals.

3. Detroit Lions 6-2

Last Week 4

The Lions had a bye on Sunday and it came at a good time as they needed to get some guys healthy. They hit the halfway point with a two-game lead in the loss column in the division and are showing that they are a contender in the NFC. A trip to Los Angeles to play the Chargers is up next and won’t be easy.

4. Kansas City Chiefs 7-2

Last Week 5

The Chiefs shook off a loss to the Broncos and a trip to Germany to beat the Dolphins 21-14. It may not always be pretty for the Chiefs, but they are once again at the top of the AFC and in the hunt for the top seed.

5. Miami Dolphins 6-3

Last Week 2

At some point the Dolphins are going to have to beat a team with a winning record. Luckily for them, they might not play one until the Cowboys come to town on Christmas Eve. Their next five games are against teams that are currently under .500. First up is a trip to New York to take on the Jets after a bye this week.

6. Jacksonville Jaguars 6-2

Last Week 6

The Jaguars had a bye week and are hoping the time off doesn’t slow them down. They have won five in a row and have a two-game lead in the AFC South. A huge home game with the 49ers is up next and is the first of three home games over the next four weeks.

7. Cincinnati Bengals 5-3

Last Week 7

The Bengals early season struggles seem to be a distant memory after they beat the Bills on Sunday night. The Bengals have now on four in a row, but a tricky home game against the Texans is up next. A trip to Baltimore to take on the Ravens looms after that game, but they need to concentrate on slowing down CJ Stroud first.

8. San Francisco 49ers 5-3

Last Week 8

The 49ers are also coming off a bye and they needed it after losing three straight games. The schedule doesn’t get any easier as they have three road games over the next four weeks. This week they go to Jacksonville to play the Jaguars and they will also travel to take on the Seahawks and Eagles.

9. Dallas Cowboys

Last Week 9

The Cowboys were ever so close to knocking off the Eagles on Sunday, but they came up just short and it dropped them to 5-3 on the season. The schedule lightens up for them over the next three weeks as they play the Giants at home, the Panthers on the road and the Commanders back at home.

10. Cleveland Browns 5-3

Last Week 11

The Browns did exactly what they needed to do on Sunday and that was beat the Cardinals. They shut out Arizona in picking up the 27-0 win as they avoided a letdown before their huge game at Baltimore this weekend.

11. Buffalo Bills 5-4

Last Week 10

The Bills are suddenly just a game above .500 and if the playoffs started today they would be on the outside looking in. They have home games against the Broncos and Jets the next two weeks and they have to win those games because the four weeks after that are brutal. They will play the Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys and Chargers in four consecutive games.

12. Pittsburgh Steelers 5-3

Last Week 13

A Thursday night win over the Titans has given them three wins in the last four games. They haven’t looked pretty doing it, but they sit 5-3 and in a playoff spot currently. The offense still hasn’t scored more than 26 points all year, but the defense has played well. A home game with the Packers is up next.

13. Minnesota Vikings 5-4

Last Week 14

No Kirk Cousins and then rookie Jaren Hall goes down with a concussion? No problem for the Vikings as newly acquired Joshua Dobbs stepped in and led Minnesota to a victory. Dobbs will now get the start for the Vikings on Sunday as the Saints. The Vikings have now won four in a row and are making a run at the playoffs.

14. Los Angeles Chargers 4-4

Last Week 18

The Chargers got back to .500 on the season after beating the Jets on Monday night. They have played well over the last two weeks, but this Sunday they get a big test as the Lions come to town.

15. Seattle Seahawks 5-3

Last Week 11

The Seahawks drop four spots after getting whipped by the Ravens 37-3. They were never in the game and are just 2-2 in their last four games. If they hadn’t had a crazy comeback win over the Browns in their last game they would be sitting at 4-4 and on the outside looking in. They get the Commanders at home this week in a must-win game.

16. Houston Texans 4-4

Last Week 21

The Texans jump up five spots after a historic day from quarterback CJ Stroud. Stroud threw for 470 yards and five touchdowns in their win over the Buccaneers on Sunday. Houston needed all of it in the wild 39-37 win.

17. New Orleans Saints 5-4

Last Week 17

The Saints used five Bears turnovers to beat Chicago 24-17. The Saints have now won two in a row but must hit the road the next two weeks to play the surging Vikings and division rival Falcons.

18. Atlanta Falcons 4-5

Last Week 16

The Falcons lost their second straight game on Sunday as they let the Vikings score a touchdown with 22 seconds left. The Falcons looked primed to get the win, but they let Joshua Dobbs lead Minnesota down the field last to get the win. They go to Arizona on Sunday in a game they have to win.

19. Denver Broncos 3-5

Last Week 20

The Broncos move up a spot without even playing. The rest of this list is a coin toss, but we are moving Denver up thanks to its win over the Chiefs last time out. They have won two in a row and if they can win in Buffalo this weekend they will suddenly be a game away from .500.

20. Indianapolis Colts 4-5

Last Week 23

The Colts did exactly what they needed to do on Sunday and that was beat a one-win Panthers team. They now head to Germany to take on the Patriots. Things look a little bit different from when these two teams were the kings of the AFC.

21. New York Jets 4-4

Last Week 15

The Jets offense is an absolute mess right now and Monday night the defense couldn’t bail them out. Their three-game winning streak is gone and they now face two straight road games against the Raiders and Bills.

22. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-6

Last Week 19

The Buccaneers lost for the fourth straight time on Sunday, but only dropped three spots thanks to the teams below them not winning either. They scored 37 points against the Texans, but had no answer for CJ Stroud. Next up is a home date with the Titans.

23. Tennessee Titans 3-5

Last Week 24

Will Levis came back down to Earth on Thursday night in their loss to the Steelers. After a great debut as starter, Levis struggled in going 22-39 for 262 yards and an interception. They are on the road for two more in a row against the Buccaneers and Jaguars next.

24. Green Bay Packers 3-5

Last Week 25

The Packers snapped a four-game losing streak on Sunday when they beat the Rams 20-3. The offense still needs some work, but it was a step in the right direction. A road game at Pittsburgh is up next for Green Bay.

25. Los Angeles Rams 3-6

Last Week 22

No Matthew Stafford on Sunday proved to be too much as the offense couldn’t get anything going in only scoring three points against the Packers. They need him back soon or things are going to get a lot worse. A home game with the Seahawks is up in two weeks after a bye this weekend.

26. Chicago Bears 2-7

Last Week 26

The Bears turned the ball over five times on Sunday and still only lost 24-17 to the Saints. Tyson Bagent made some great throws and connected with Cole Kmet for two touchdowns, but he has to protect the ball. A Thursday night game with the Panthers is next for the Bears.

27. Las Vegas Raiders 4-5

Last Week 27

The Raiders got a big win in their first game without the recently fired Josh McDaniels as they snapped a two-game losing streak. The Raiders are now 4-5 and just a half-game out of second place in the AFC West. A home game against the Jets is up next before going to Miami to play the Dolphins.

28. Washington Commanders 4-5

Last Week 27

The Commanders snapped a two-game losing streak with a 20-17 win over the Patriots. The defense did well despite trading away two of their best players, but they are going to get tested this week when they travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks.

29. New England Patriots 2-7

Last Week 30

The Patriots were competitive on Sunday, but could only manage 17 points in a second straight loss. This is not a good team right now and it doesn’t get much easier as they have to travel to Germany to take on the Colts on Sunday.

30. New York Giants 2-7

Last Week 29

The Giants season went from bad to worse as Daniel Jones tore his ACL and will be out for the year. The offense has been bad this year and it isn’t going to get any better. Road games at the Cowboys and Commanders are up next.

31. Carolina Panthers 1-7

Last Week 32

The Panthers move up a spot despite the loss as they looked more competitive on Sunday than the Cardinals. Honestly either one of these teams could be in the bottom spot. A Thursday night game against the Bears is a great shot for them to win another game, though.

32. Arizona Cardinals 1-8

Last Week 31

The Cardinals were shut out by the Browns on Sunday and they have now lost six in a row. Kyler Murray could start this Sunday against the Falcons, but it might not matter. This team is not good.
