Who Has the Most Super Bowl MVPs?
Below are the six players to have won multiple Super Bowl MVP awards.
6. Patrick Mahomes – 2 Super Bowl MVPs
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the most recent player to win the award twice, winning Super Bowl MVP in Super Bowl LIV and LVII. He is the only active player to win the award multiple times.
5. Eli Manning – 2 Super Bowl MVPs
Eli Manning won Super Bowl MVP in Super Bowls XLII and XLVI. Notably, one of those Super Bowl MVP awards came after defeating the previously unbeaten New England Patriots. In fact, both of Manning’s Super Bowl MVPs came in wins over New England.
4. Terry Bradshaw – 2 MVPs
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw was the Super Bowl MVP in Super Bowls XIII and XIV, making him one of two players to win the award in consecutive years. Bradshaw, who now works as an analyst for FOX Sports, ultimately was part of four Super Bowl-winning Steelers teams.
3. Bart Starr – 2 MVPs
The Green Bay Packers won the first two Super Bowls ever played, and Bart Starr was named Super Bowl MVP both times. The legendary quarterback was also the first player to win regular season and Super Bowl MVP in the same season, doing so in Green Bay’s first Super Bowl-winning campaign.
2. Joe Montana – 3 MVPs
Joe Montana was the Super Bowl MVP three times, winning in XVI, XIX and XXIV. He was Super Bowl MVP in three of his four Super Bowl victories, with Jerry Rice claiming the award in Super Bowl XXIII after finishing with 215 receiving yards.
1. Tom Brady – 5 MVPs
No player has won as many Super Bowl MVP awards as Tom Brady, who is the only player to win the award with multiple teams. Brady quarterbacked the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl title in XXXVI, XXXVIII, XLIX and LI, while he led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Super Bowl LV title. Those weren’t his only Super Bowl victories, though. Deion Branch was the MVP of Super Bowl XXXIX and Julian Edelman won the award in Super Bowl LIII.

What Football Position Has the Most Super Bowl MVPs?
As you might expect, quarterbacks tend to win Super Bowl MVP more often than other positions. Here is the full list of winners by position:

Notably, only 10 defensive players have won the award, with two of those coming in the same season. The kick returner who won was Desmond Howard back in Super Bowl XXXI, who set records in the game for longest scoring play, longest kickoff return, highest kickoff return average and most punt return yards gained. He finished with 244 combined yards.
