Week 6 NFL Power Rankings

There were a lot of surprises in the NFL this week, but who rose above the rest?

Week 6 ended any hopes of an undefeated team this year as both the Eagles and 49ers lost their first game of the season. Their losses were just two of a few surprises this week and it shook up the power rankings.

Week 7 has a lot of interesting matchups coming up, but first, we take a look at where every team lands after the sixth week of the season.

1. Miami Dolphins 5-1

Last Week 3

The Dolphins rise back to the top thanks to losses by the 49ers and Eagles. Sunday it looked like they might be a victim of the upset bug also as they went down 14-0 in the first quarter. They woke up in the second quarter with 21 points and cruised to a 42-21 win.

2. Detroit Lions 5-1

Last Week 4

The Lions continue to impress as they went to Tampa Bay and dominated the Buccaneers in a 20-6 win. They have won four straight and lead the NFC North by two and a half games over the Packers. They get another tough road game this weekend as they head to Baltimore to take on the Ravens.

3. San Francisco 49ers 5-1

Last Week 1

The 49ers suffered their first loss of the year on Sunday when Jake Moody’s winning field goal just missed right. The bigger concern for San Francisco is the health of Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel. Both went out on Sunday and so did Trent Williams. They need all three back soon.

4. Kansas City Chiefs 5-1

Last Week 5

The Chiefs didn’t look great on Thursday night, but they still got the 16-8 win over the Broncos. The offense hasn’t been great this year, but whenever you have Patrick Mahomes under center you have a shot. A big home game with the Chargers is next before they head to Denver to take on the Broncos.

5. Philadelphia Eagles 5-1

Last Week 2

The Eagles had looked just okay this season despite winning their first five games. It caught up with them on Sunday as they lost to the Jets 20-14. Jalen Hurts has taken a step back this year after a terrific last season. The Eagles have to get him playing better if they want to make a return trip to the Super Bowl.

6. Jacksonville Jaguars 4-2

Last Week 10

The Jaguars looked impressive again on Sunday as they beat the Colts 37-20. They have dominated Indianapolis at home over the last decade and they have now taken control of the division. Two straight road games await against the Saints and Steelers.

7. Buffalo Bills 4-2

Last Week 6

The Bills got a win on Sunday, but for a second straight week the offense looked like it was stuck in mud. Last week we gave them the benefit of the doubt because of the travel to London, but after their performance on Sunday, you have to wonder what is wrong. They get another week to try and get things right against a bad Patriots team before games against the Buccaneers and Bengals.

8. Cleveland Browns 3-3

Last Week 18

The Browns picked up the biggest upset of the day as they took down the undefeated 49ers. Deshaun Watson was still out, but backup PJ Walker did just enough to get the Browns the win. They are just 3-3 on the year, but they have proven they can play with the best teams in the league.

9. Dallas Cowboys 4-2

Last Week 12

The Cowboys got a huge road win at the Chargers on Monday night to get them to 4-2 on the season. The defense came through in a big way late after struggling the week before in a 42-10 loss to the 49ers. The Cowboys get the Rams at home next week before a huge road game at the Eagles in two weeks.

10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-2

Last Week 8

The Buccaneers had no answers for the Lions’ defense in their 20-6 loss on Sunday. It was their second loss in three games, but they still sit a half-game up on the Falcons and Saints for the top spot in the NFC South.

11. Baltimore Ravens 4-2

Last Week 15

The Ravens took down the Titans in London on Sunday and it has them in first place in the AFC North by a half-game over the Steelers and Browns. Lamar Jackson is doing just enough to get wins, but it hasn’t been pretty. Next up is a tough home game against the streaking Lions.

12. Seattle Seahawks 3-2

Last Week 7

The Seahawks had a ton of chances to beat the Bengals on Sunday, but their last two possessions ended in turnovers on downs inside the Cincinnati 10. Geno Smith was sacked multiple times in the red zone and it kept the Seahawks from getting a big road win.

13. Indianapolis Colts 3-3

Last Week 11

Gardner Minshew struggled on Sunday as he threw three interceptions in the Colts’ loss to the Titans. It was the ninth straight loss for the Colts in Jacksonville, but more importantly, it gave the Jaguars the season sweep of Indianapolis. They are now effectively two games back of the Jags for the top spot in the AFC South.

14. Pittsburgh Steelers 3-2

Last Week 14

The Steelers hold steady at 14 after their bye week. They are a somewhat surprising 3-2 on the season despite looking shaky at best at times this year. A road trip to Los Angeles to take on the Rams awaits before they get three straight home games.

15. Cincinnati Bengals 3-3

Last Week 19

The Bengals won their second straight on Sunday as they fended off a pesky Seahawks team in their 17-13 win. The offense wasn’t as dynamic as they were against the Cardinals last week, but they got the win. The schedule gets tough, though, as they play at the 49ers and home against the Bills the next two weeks.

16. New York Jets 3-3

Last Week 26

The Jets make the biggest jump of the week after upsetting the Eagles on Sunday. The Jets have not looked flashy, but they now own wins against both the Bills and Eagles. The defense is one of the best in the league and will keep them in a lot of games.

17. Los Angeles Rams 3-3

Last Week 16

Cooper Kupp has picked up right where he left off and it doesn’t look like he has missed any time. The Rams used a big game from him to help them recover from a slow start to beat the Cardinals 26-9. It was their second win in three games and on Sunday they will look for another when they host the Steelers.

18. Los Angeles Chargers 2-3

Last Week 9

Maybe it is time to realize the Chargers are just an average team. They lost for the third time in five games on Monday night when the offense couldn’t get anything going in a 20-17 loss to the Cowboys. They have a ton of talent but just can’t put it all together.

19. Houston Texans 3-3

Last Week 17

They dropped a couple of spots this week even after a win. Not because of what they have done this year, but more because some teams behind them looked more impressive this past weekend. CJ Stroud continues to impress and it looks like the Texans have a bright future with him under center.

20. New Orleans Saints 3-3

Last Week 13

The Saints drop after losing for the third time in the last four games. They have three wins on the year, but two of them are against the winless Panthers and one-win Patriots. They have been okay this year, but they aren’t scaring anybody either. They come back home on Sunday for a tough game with the Jaguars.

21. Las Vegas Raiders 3-3

Last Week 21

The Raiders picked up their second straight win on Sunday as they held off the Patriots at home. The win moved them to .500 at 3-3 and they now hit the road for two straight against the Bears and Lions. The Lions’ game will be tough, but they have three winnable games in their next four.

22. Washington Commanders 3-3

Last Week 25

The Commanders bounced back nicely from their loss to the Bears with a 24-16 win over the Falcons. It wasn’t the prettiest of wins, but it snapped a three-game losing streak and got them back even on the season.

23. Atlanta Falcons 3-3

Last Week 20

Kyle Pitts finally found the end zone on Sunday, but it wasn’t enough as they lost for the third time in four games. The 2-0 start to the year seems like a distant memory now and it doesn’t get much easier as they hit the road for two straight against the Buccaneers and Titans.

24. Tennessee Titans 2-4

Last Week 23

The Titans went across the pond and lost to the Ravens 24-16. It was their second straight loss and dropped them to last place in the AFC South. Ryan Tannehill went down with a leg injury and Malik Willis struggled in relief.

25. Green Bay Packers 2-3

Last Week 22

The Packers had the week off after losing to the Raiders on Monday night. They have dropped two straight, but have a winnable game on Sunday as they head out to Denver to take on the one-win Broncos.

26. Minnesota Vikings 2-4

Last Week 25

The Vikings played yet another one-score game, but this time they came out on top as they beat the rival Bears 19-13. The offense wasn’t as great without Justin Jefferson in the lineup, but the defense forced three turnovers in the win. They get the 49ers at home on Monday night next.

27. Denver Broncos 1-5

Last Week 28

The Broncos lost their second straight when they went to Kansas City and lost to the Chiefs on Thursday night. They held the Chiefs to just 19 points, but could only muster eight of their own. Their next two games are at home against the Packers and Chiefs.

28. Chicago Bears 1-5

Last Week 29

All the momentum from picking up their first win of the year a week ago was taken away in a 19-13 loss to the Vikings at home. Justin Fields went out with a dislocated thumb and it looks like he will be missing for multiple weeks. Even then the Bears had the ball late with a chance to win, but an interception sealed their fate.

29. New York Giants 1-5

Last Week 30

The Giants held the Bills to just 14 points on Sunday night. That was the good part of the game. The bad was once again their offense. The Giants managed only nine points and lost their fourth straight game. Their only win of the year is against the Cardinals and it is hard to see many more this season.

30. Arizona Cardinals 1-5

Last Week 25

The Cardinals’ second-half woes continued on Sunday as they lost to the Rams 26-9. They led at halftime 9-6, but couldn’t find the end zone and took their third straight loss. They have been competitive, but lack of depth is killing them right now.

31. New England Patriots 1-5

Last Week 31

The Patriots were at least competitive against the Raiders on Sunday, but they still lost their third straight 21-17. Mac Jones continues to struggle and it doesn’t look like they are going to get a win soon as they play the Bills and Dolphins the next two weeks.

32. Carolina Panthers 0-6

Last Week 32

For one quarter the Panthers looked good as they jumped out to a 14-0 lead on the Dolphins in Miami. The good vibes ended there, though, as they gave up the next 35 points in their 42-21 loss. Next up is the Texans and Colts at home as they try and get their first win of the year.
