On Sunday afternoon, No. 5 Clemson will take on Louisville in the final game of the teams’ ACC series at Jim Patterson Stadium. The Cardinals are currently in fifth place in the ACC Atlantic standings with a conference record of 10-10 and an overall record of 25-17. The team dropped the first game of the series, but bounced back to pull off a narrow 7-6 victory on Saturday, forcing today’s tiebreaker. The win went to Parker Detmers on the mound after pitching 2.2 innings in which he gave up three runs and struck out one batter. Louisville used a trio of home runs from Dylan Hoy, Eddie King Jr. and JT Benson to power the Cardinals to a win as the three combined for four of the team’s runs.

The Tigers are still leading the ACC Atlantic standings after yesterday’s loss dropped them to 14-6 against conference opponents and 33-9 overall. Clemson also had three players hit home runs in yesterday’s game with Jacob Jarrell hitting a two-run shot in the fourth and a solo shot in the ninth. Jarren Purify also made it out of the stadium with a solo shot in the sixth, but the team came up just short despite having 12 hits in the game. Garris Reed earned his first loss of the year after pitching 1.2 innings and giving up two earned runs, one of which decided the game in the bottom of the ninth.
