The Toreros are returning to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2013 after winning the West Coast Conference championship this past weekend. The team had a stellar tournament sweeping all of its competition over the weekend with a 4-0 tournament record.
The Commodores return to the NCAA tournament for an SEC record 16 straight years. While Vandy had to await the committee’s decision during the selection show on Sunday, preparation began as soon as the team’s name was called. Joining San Diego and Vanderbilt in the Corvallis Regional are Oregon State and New Mexico State.
The Toreros will look to continue their win streak with a win over Vanderbilt today. San Diego is 3-9 all-time against Vanderbilt, with the last game being played back in 2017, in which Vanderbilt won 8-2. With two entirely different rosters since that matchup, today’s game could go to either team.
