The NIT gets going on Tuesday with No. 4 seed LSU (17-15) playing host to defending NIT champion North Texas (18-14) in one of the night’s matchups. The Mean Green are coming off a season that saw them finish 10-8 in AAC play, good for seventh in a tough conference. The team’s best attribute this season was its defense, as the Mean Green ranked 10th in Division I in scoring defense, allowing 63.1 points per game. Jason Edwards led the way with 19.1 points per game for UNT.

As for LSU, the Tigers were 9-9 in SEC play, putting them seventh in the final conference standings. Jalen Cook led the team in scoring, but played just 13 games and hasn’t played since early February.
