They look to keep the momentum going against the St. Louis Cardinals (7-9), who have lost two games in a row and back-to-back series after a solid start to the 2024 season. This interleague series features the young stars of Oakland and St. Louis are all looking to make an impact.     On the mound to start the game today for St. Louis right-handed veteran Sonny Gray (1-0) in his second start of the season. He pitched 5.0 innings of scoreless baseball with five strikeouts in his first start of the season.

    He will duel with Oakland’s Ross Stripling (0-3) who has been very active to start the season with three starts. In those three starts, all losses, Stripling has allowed 11 runs in 18.0 innings pitched with 14 strikeouts. Oakland puts Stripling on the mound with the team playing its best baseball of the early season as he attempts for his first win of 2024.

    This season St. Louis is 21st in total runs scored in the MLB and only has more home runs than two total teams so far this season. The offense will need to step up to snap the current two-game losing streak and put St. Louis in a position to compete in this series starting today.
