The Philadelphia Phillies host the Tampa Bay Rays in spring training play at BayCare Park on Monday.
With opening day just around the corner, MLB teams are trying to finalize their rosters in the last few Spring Training games. On Monday, the Phillies and Rays will meet for the third time in the last month. The teams last played on Thursday which resulted in a 6-5 win for the Rays. On Sunday, the Rays played the Tigers, falling in a close 3-2 game to bring their overall record this Spring Training season to 10-16. Amed Rosario led offensive play for Tampa Bay, going 2-for-3. Jose Siri went 1-for-2, but accounted for both of the team’s runs with a single that scored Rosario and Harold RamÃrez. Antonio Jimenez took the loss on the mound for Tampa Bay to move to 0-1 with two innings of pitching and one strikeout.

The Phillies have struggled a bit during Spring Training and bring a record of 9-14 into Monday’s game which puts them at fourth place in the NL East standings. On Sunday, the team played the Toronto Blue Jays and were able to walk away with a 2-0 victory. Trea Turner went 2-for-3 at the plate and had one RBI, as did Alec Bohm who also went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Aaron Nola took the win on the mound to improve to 2-1 during Spring Training after pitching 5.2 innings and striking out four batters.
The Phillies will return home to Citizens Bank Park after today’s game to play the Atlanta Braves in Opening Day on Thursday at 3:05 p.m. ET.
