The Texas Smash and Bay Area Blasters look to close the weekend undefeated in Major League Table Tennis today.
The top two teams in the West Division of Major League Table Tennis square off in the final match of the final weekend of the regular season. Heading into this match-up the Bay Area Blasters (12-9, 231 points) are in first place in the West Division while the Texas Smash (10-11, 212 points) are right behind them in second place. The Blasters have won three straight matches leading into today to help maintain their position at the top of the division while the Smash have tried to keep pace and close the gap winning three of their last four matches. This match will not impact the playoff scenarios but will give one team momentum heading into the postseason.

When the playoffs begin the top seed in the West Division will play the Princeton Revolution and the second seed will play the Carolina Gold Rush in Chicago, Illinois. Those two semifinal match-ups will build the championship match for this season for Major League Table Tennis.
This season the Blasters have been at their best in singles matches and in the Golden Game going 134-118 and 12-9 overall in those respective areas. In doubles they are just 25-38, giving their opponents a target and path to beating them in the playoffs and today.
For the Smash, they are just under .500 in all three styles of match going 123-129, 29-34 and 10-11 in singles, doubles and the Golden Game. They will enter the playoffs as the only team under .500 in more than one of those three styles of match.
