The third week of NBA fantasy basketball is a fun one for team owners as the sample sizes are starting to grow, but there are still so many unknowns. One variable that is always a constant in fantasy hoops is staying ahead of your league with smart waiver wire pickups.
Keeping the rotation at the end of your bench is a key to slide players in and out of your roster to maximize points each week.

As always with this feature I am looking at players that are rostered on less than 50 percent of teams right now in Yahoo! leagues. This is a shortened week with Tuesday being one of the rare days in the NBA season with no games. Let’s take a look at the waiver wire for week three:
Guards
Colby White (37 percent Rostered)
Two Games: Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons
Over White’s last four games with the Chicago Bulls he has scored in double figures, dished out 18 assists and made eight total three-pointers. Depending on what your team needs White at the end of the bench is becoming a consistent option to give your team points, assists and steals every game.
Eric Gordon (35 percent Rostered)
Three Games: Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder
Consistency is huge with waiver wire pickups each week, which is exactly what Gordon has been for the Phoenix Suns this season. With Devin Booker and Bradley Beal both out Gordon has scored in double-figures five times, made multiple threes in games four times and adds some sneaky good value in assists, steals and blocks as a bottom of the bench player.
Killian Hayes (26 percent Rostered)
Three Games: Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers at Chicago Bulls
Hayes has flourished over his last three games totaling 44 points, 21 assists, 11 rebounds and three combined blocks and steals. He is shooting 16-for-28 from the field with six made three-pointers, as well giving you a solid rotational guard this week.
Forwards
Dorian Finney-Smith (39 percent Rostered)
Three Games: Los Angeles Clippers, Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards
This season DFS has made at least three three-pointers, scored in double figures and grabbed at least three rebounds in all but one game. He is the prototype role player on the wing in real life and in fantasy hoops.
Jonathan Kuminga (27 percent Rostered)
Three Games: Denver Nuggets, Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves
Golden State faces three solid defenses this week, which could open the door for Kuminga to have a big week to take pressure off his star teammates. In his last four games Kuminga has totaled 56 points, seven rebounds, while getting to the free throw line 18 times.
Jae Crowder (8 percent Rostered)
Three Games: Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic
In his last two games Crowder has made eight total three-pointers while collecting 11 rebounds and two steals. If Crowder can keep that pace from three and on the boards he has the potential to win you a week of fantasy hoops.
Centers
Christian Wood (40 percent Rostered)
Three Games: Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns and Portland Trail Blazers
This might be the perfect week to pick up Wood in fantasy all season. He starts against his former team in Houston, then plays against a Phoenix team with zero frontcourt depth and a Portland team that is trying to figure it out on the fly. On top of that Wood has two double-doubles already this season off the bench and has started to earn the trust of LeBron James.
Drew Eubanks (15 percent Rostered)
Three Games: Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder
The Jusuf Nurkic experience has been bumpy for Phoenix, but the play of Eubanks off the bench has been strong all season. The big man worth tampering for has totaled 31 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, four blocks and two steals on 11-of-18 shooting (9-of-9 from the line) in just over 21 minutes a game.
Andre Drummond (5 percent Rostered)
Two Games: Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons
While Drummond is a deep flier here, the veteran big man has 17 points and 18 rebounds in his last two games, while shooting 7-for-13 from the field. If you need rebounding and a boost in field goal percentage, Drummond is a great back of the bench option.
