Which NFL teams should consider a change at quarterback?

Fubo News presents the NFL teams who should already be considering a quarterback change in Week 3. Watch the NFL on Fubo.

The quarterback position has the most weight on its shoulders in the NFL, making every starting job as precious as the next. If the quarterback is not clicking then a team has very little chance to succeed in the long grueling marathon that is the NFL season. Some teams are set up for the long term at the position, like the Kansas City Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes, the Philadelphia Eagles with Jalen Hurts, the Cincinnati Bengals with Joe Burrow and select other teams. Then there are these four teams that could be playoff contenders if the right quarterback was under center this season.

Of the teams that have a big decision to make are the New York Jets (1-1) after Aaron Rodgers went down with a season-ending Achilles injury. The team turned to Zach Wilson, which fueled them to a season-opening win in overtime. Now, New York has a huge decision with a roster that is ready to compete this season and beyond with some of the best young talent in the NFL on the defensive end and playmakers on the offensive end.

Some free agent options for New York to consider are Joe Flacco, Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan and Chase Daniels.

Trade targets could include former starters and current back-ups Jameis Winston (New Orleans Saints), Teddy Bridgewater (Detroit Lions), Jacoby Brissett (Washington Commanders), Andy Dalton (Carolina Panthers) and current starters Kirk Cousins (Minnesota Vikings) and Mac Jones (New England) if their seasons fold in on themselves.

The other team that could be looking outside of their locker room for a quarterback to get the team back on track this season is the Tennessee Titans (1-1). The team has not been secretive about wanting to upgrade the quarterback position in recent years drafting Will Levis in 2023 and Malik Willis in 2022.

Two teams that have quarterbacks with big names but might be ready to make a move early this season are the Chicago Bears (0-2) and the Denver Broncos (0-2).

This season Justin Fields has not gotten off to a strong start with the second-worst QBR in the league and the seventh-worst quarterback rating. Fields is on pace for his worst statistical season with just 527 yards on the ground and 25 interceptions.

Chicago has Nathan Peterman and Tyson Bagent in its glass case on the roster in case the team feels this season is an emergency and needs to break the glass.

Potentially the most delicate situation in the NFL this season at the quarterback position is Denver with veteran and Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson. If the team pulls the pin on Wilson, they have Jarrett Stidham on the roster as one of the highest-paid backup quarterbacks in the league.

Head Coach Sean Payton did not come to Denver for the exclusive opportunity to coach Wilson. He went there to build a Super Bowl contender and get Denver on track again in the AFC.

All four of these teams could make a change as soon as week three, with New York and Tennessee both in a position to make the playoffs, while Denver and Chicago have to have eyes on both this season and the future.

Regional restrictions may apply.
