NFL Fantasy: Top DFS Starting Lineup for Week 3

Week 3 is here and so is our help with your daily fantasy lineups. Come and find out what our optimal lineup looks like.

Week 3 is here and for all of you die-hard fantasy football fans that play the traditional way and the daily way, here is an optimal lineup and value consideration for Week 3. Last week, we threw together a great lineup with Puka Nacua, George Pickens and James Cook to pair with CMC and Tua Tagovailoa. This week, we will try to be even better.

We will be using the Draft Kings model starting one quarterback, two running backs, three receivers, one tight end, one flex and one defense with a $50,000 budget.

QB: Kirk Cousins, Vikings – $6,900

Kirk Cousins and the Vikings offense has been in full pass mode all season. With running back Alexander Mattison virtually useless averaging fewer than five yards per carry, the team has been forced to work through the air. Through two weeks, Cousins has been QB9 and QB2 throwing for 708 yards and six touchdowns with only one interception. He should continue that hot streak and finish as a top-five QB against a weak Chargers secondary.

RB: Kyren Williams, Rams – $5,500

Last week, the Rams benched Cam Akers in favor of Kyren Williams and earlier this week traded Akers to Minnesota, leaving just Williams in the RB room to dominate the snap counts. Against the 49ers last week, Williams was the RB2 on the week finishing with 30.50 points. He ran 14 times for 52 yards and a touchdown while catching six passes on 10 targets for 48 yards and another touchdown. Williams will be in for another big week this week despite playing a tougher opponent up front.

RB: Jahmyr Gibbs, Lions – $6,600

Can we finally get the Jahmyr Gibbs workhorse back show like fantasy managers have been hoping for after drafting him in the second or third round of most drafts? Week 1 was severely disappointing with David Montgomery taking the majority of the snaps and rushes. Last week was a little better with Gibbs rushing seven times for 17 yards and catching seven passes for 39 yards on nine targets. With the possibility of Montgomery missing this week, Gibbs could be a sneaky slide-in.

WR: Jordan Addison, Vikings – $5,500

For the same reason we took Kirk Cousins above, we are going to take Jordan Addison here. Typically in a QB/WR stack with Cousins, you take Justin Jefferson. However, Addison has been a sneaky play all season getting steady work for being a rookie. In Week 1, he finished with four receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown. Last week, he would find the end zone again and do it on three receptions for 72 yards. He has also seen five to six targets per game. With his big play threat and ability to find the end zone, he’s a sneaky sleeper.

WR: Puka Nacua, Rams – $6,100

Puka Nacua slashed all kinds of expectations in his first game in the regular season. Nacua then came back and topped even what he did in Week 1. Through two weeks, he has 25 receptions for 266 yards and 51.60 fantasy points despite not even finding the end zone. We had Nacua at this same spot last week at $4,900. His value has now risen to $6,100 and I’m still taking him in every daily fantasy spot available.

WR: Mike Williams, Chargers – $6,000

Mike Williams went from five targets with four receptions and 45 yards to 13 targets with eight receptions for 83 yards from Week 1 to Week 2. He has yet to find the end zone, but I would anticipate the target share to stay more in the 10-13 range than the 5-7 range heading into this week which means we could be in for another 16.60 points WR24 performance again if not better.

TE: Sam LaPorta, Lions – $4,000

The top tight ends in the NFL have been all over the place. However, Sam LaPorta has been a consistent mid-level top-10 TE in both of his first weeks in the NFL. He has 11.40 points in Week 1 and 13.80 points in Week 2. He has seen 5-6 targets per week and reeled in five catches each week for 39 and 63 yards despite not catching a touchdown, which could easily change this week because it is only a matter of time.

FLEX: Raheem Mostert, Dolphins – $6,000

In Week 1, Tua Tagovailoa paired with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle ran wild. Last week, Bill Belichick decided that he would let the team have whatever they wanted underneath but wouldn’t be beaten deep by any means. As a result, Mostert finished as the RB5 with 27.20 fantasy points after running for 121 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns. He has dominated the snap count at the position despite rookie Achane being back.

DST: Pittsburgh Steelers – $3,300

There is not much that needs to be said here if you tuned into the Monday Night Football game last week against the Cleveland Browns. While Pittsburgh’s offense was doing absolutely nothing, the defense took over the game with Alex Highsmith and T.J. Watt both scoring touchdowns to go with six sacks, three forced fumbles and recoveries, one interception and nine tackles for a loss.
