With so many teams on a bye week last week, it seemed like every fantasy matchup was at a disadvantage. Because of that and as the season continues to develop, the waiver wire gets slimmer and slimmer with the amount of FLEX-level players available to add. Despite that, here are the top five players you should search for and add on the waiver wire this week.
Darrell Henderson, RB, Los Angeles Rams
In a surprising turn of events, Kyren Williams was placed on the IR, and Darrell Henderson was added back to the team. With many people thinking TCU rookie Zach Evans would lead the backfield, it was actually Henderson who came in as the starting back with Royce Freeman being the change-of-pace back. He had 61 yards on 18 carries with a touchdown in his first game back and should have at least three more games of productivity before Williams returns.
Josh Downs, WR, Indianapolis Colts
Josh Downs has been slowly raising his game and importance to the team week by week. Well, last week, he finally broke out finishing as the WR3 on the week with five receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown. Downs now has a score in two straight games with Gardner Minshew at the helm. With Minshew leading the team for the remainder of the season, Downs should be rostered and is startable going forward.
Emari Demercado, RB, Arizona Cardinals
I know, I know … I said this two weeks ago and he barely saw a snap over Keoantay Ingram two weeks ago. I don’t know what is taking place in Arizona, but Emari Demercado came back and saw nearly every running back snap for Arizona in last week’s loss to Seattle while Ingram didn’t see a single carry. Demercado took 13 carries for 58 yards and caught four of five targets for 17 yards, totaling 11.50 fantasy points. I’m stashing Demercado to see if he gets the carries again this week.
Ezekiel Elliot, RB, New England Patriots
Ezekiel Elliot is not the every-down back that you want as your RB1, but he has now scored a touchdown in two straight games for the Patriots and has topped 30 yards in each of those games. If he continues to get that kind of work and Mac Jones continues to get the team to the goalline, Elliot could earn a spot on a roster in your league.
Jalin Hyatt, WR, New York Giants
Jalin Hyatt, a rookie out of Tennessee, has yet to make his mark on the team at all this season. He has surpassed 10 fantasy points just once against the Cardinals in Week 2 after catching two passes for 89 yards. Last week, Hyatt caught two of five targets with 75 yards. He is developing as the team’s deep threat and if he can continue to see over five targets per game, Hyatt could be a bye-week substitution in the near future.
