Week 7 NFL Power Rankings

After a crazy NFL weekend who rises to the top and who is stuck at the bottom in the rankings?

Everything you thought you knew about the NFL went out the window over the weekend. The Patriots upset the Bills, the Bears won for the second time in three games, the Giants won, the Ravens blew out the Lions and the Broncos won again.

It was a weird Sunday that did little to establish a lot of clarity in the rankings and kept a lot of team’s hopes alive to make a run at the playoffs.

So how did it affect our weekly rankings? Let’s take a look.

1. Philadelphia Eagles 6-1

Last Week 5

A week after falling from the ranks of the unbeatens the Eagles made a statement with a 31-17 win over the Dolphins. The Eagles did turn the ball over a couple of times, but overall dominated Miami to get the win. They proved that they aren’t ready to give up the NFC yet and once again look like a favorite to make the Super Bowl.

2. Kansas City Chiefs 6-1

Last Week 4

We keep doubting if the Chiefs are really any good and they just keep winning. Patrick Mahomes threw for 424 yards and four touchdowns as the Chiefs took down the division-rival Chargers. The Chiefs have a huge game with the Dolphins looming that could decide home-field advantage in the playoffs.

3. Miami Dolphins 5-2

Last Week 1

The Dolphins had a chance to prove that they were the best team in the NFL when they went to Philadelphia on Sunday night, but they came up short. The Dolphins once again struggled against a top team and there have to be some doubts about if they can win in the playoffs when it matters.

4. San Francisco 49ers 5-2

Last Week 3

The 49ers lost their second straight game on Monday night when they went to Minnesota and lost to the Vikings 22-17. Key injuries to Deebo Samuel and Trent Williams hurt the 49ers. It doesn’t get any easier as they host the Bengals on Sunday before a trip to Jacksonville the next week to take on the Jaguars.

5. Baltimore Ravens 5-2

Last Week 11

We still have some doubts about the Ravens, but for one Sunday they proved that they are legit. They jumped all over the streaking Lions and left no doubt. They scored the first 35 points and never let the Lions in the game. They will head to Arizona to take on the Cardinals this weekend before three straight home games.

6. Detroit Lions 5-2

Last Week 2

The Lions came back down to Earth in a big way on Sunday when the Ravens beat them 38-6. They struggled to stop Lamar Jackson and the Ravens offense and couldn’t get any points on the board. They are still a good team, but they weren’t even close to good enough on Sunday. They go home to take on the Raiders next week in a game they need to win.

7 Jacksonville Jaguars 5-2

Last Week 6

It was close, but the Jaguars got a win on Thursday night and have now won four in a row and are 5-2 on the season. After a couple of tough losses to begin the season, the Jaguars look like the class of the AFC South and a real threat in the conference. They have a big game at the Steelers next Sunday before home games against the 49ers and Titans.

8. Cleveland Browns 4-2

Last Week 8

It took a little bit of luck, but the Browns picked up a shootout win at Indianapolis on Sunday. Deshaun Watson was back, but he exited the game once again. The Browns rallied anyway to get the win and now sit 4-2 on the season and a half-game back of the Ravens in the AFC North.

9. Dallas Cowboys 4-2

Last Week 9

The Cowboys had a bye week after a big Monday night win over the Chargers. It has been a very up-and-down season for the Cowboys, but they are still just a game back of the first-place Eagles. They get Philadelphia in two weeks, but first, get a home game against the Rams next week.

10. Buffalo Bills 4-3

Last Week 7

Something is wrong with the Bills as they lost for the second time in three games. Josh Allen is struggling and they are now just 4-3 on the season. What looked like a great team after a blowout win over the Dolphins, now looks shaky at best. A home game against the Buccaneers on Sunday is now a must-win.

11. Seattle Seahawks 4-2

Last Week 12

The Seahawks got another win on Sunday and have now won four of their last five games. Their lone loss was a close 17-13 defeat to the Bengals. They haven’t been flashy and three of their four wins this year have come against teams at the bottom of these rankings, but they sit just a half-game back of the 49ers in the NFC West.

12. Pittsburgh Steelers 4-2

Last Week 14

The Steelers have looked horrible in their two losses to the 49ers and Texans, but they still come into Week 8 with a 4-2 record. They haven’t won a game by more than seven points, but they have won four games. It hasn’t been pretty, but the key is to win games and they are doing that right now.

13. Cincinnati Bengals 3-3

Last Week 15

The Bengals continue to rise despite a bye week. The middle of the NFL right now is a cluster, but the Bengals still have Joe Burrow so we are giving them the nod here. They have won three of their last four, but go to San Francisco on Sunday for a big game against the 49ers.

14. Atlanta Falcons 4-3

Last Week 23

In a week where so many teams above them lost, we moved the Falcons up 10 spots. Who knows how good they really are, but they did beat the Buccaneers and they now sit in first place in the NFC South with a 4-3 record.

15. Minnesota Vikings 3-4

Last Week 26

The Vikings have now won two in a row and they continued their streak of playing one-score games. They are now 3-4 and each game has been decided by eight points or less. Their first two wins were against the Panthers and Bears, but Monday night’s win over the 49ers was a big one.

16. New York Jets 3-3

Last Week 16

The Jets were off this weekend after getting an upset victory over the Eagles last weekend. They have now won two in a row and are a surprising 3-3 on the season. They play three of their next four games on the road, but the next three are very winnable.

17. Houston Texans 3-3

Last Week 19

The Texans were also off this past weekend and will head to Carolina to take on the Panthers on Sunday. They have won three of their last four as CJ Stroud continues to impress. They are just a game back in the loss column to the Jaguars and they already own a win over them.

18. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-3

Last Week 10

The Bucs take a slide after losing their second straight game on Sunday. The defense did their part giving up just 16 points, but the offense could only muster 13 in the loss. The schedule gets really tough for the Bucs as road games at the Bills, Texans, 49ers and Colts all come in the next five weeks.

19. Los Angeles Rams 3-4

Last Week 17

The Rams suffered another close loss on Sunday when the Steelers came to town and beat them 24-17. All four of their losses have come by nine or fewer, but they have all come against teams that are .500 or better. The Rams are better this year, but they have to start winning games. Next up is a trip to Dallas to take on the Cowboys.

20. New Orleans Saints 3-4

Last Week 20

The Saints let a win slip their fingers on Thursday night in a 31-24 defeat to the Jaguars. They have now lost two in a row and four of their last five after starting the year 2-0. Thanks to the NFC South being down, they are just one game back of the first-place Falcons.

21. Indianapolis Colts 3-4

Last Week 13

The Colts take a tumble after losing a second straight game. Gardner Minshew was great at times on Sunday, but also turned the ball over four times for a second straight game. He is good enough to lead the Colts to victories, but the turnovers have to get better. They have three winnable games coming up that they need to win.

22. Tennessee Titans 2-4

Last Week 24

The Titans got a much-needed bye on Sunday after losing two straight close games. Reports out of Tennessee say they are shopping Derrick Henry as their season starts to slip away. They get the Falcons at home before two straight road games against the Steelers and Buccaneers.

23. Los Angeles Chargers 2-4

Last Week 18

The Chargers continue to slide down the rankings after a second straight loss. Losing to the Cowboys and Chiefs isn’t a horrible thing, but they now sit just 2-4 on the season. They get the Bears at home this weekend and have to win or their season could be in jeopardy.

24. Denver Broncos 2-5

Last Week 27

The Broncos have looked competent over the last few weeks as they have gone 2-2 and held the Chiefs to just 19 points in a loss. They aren’t a great team, but they are playing better. If they can upset the Chiefs on Sunday they will vault up this list.

25. Green Bay Packers 2-4

Last Week 25

The Packers lost a third straight game and their season is starting to fall apart. Jordan Love has struggled and they are a fourth-quarter comeback away from being 1-5 this year. Two straight home games are next against the Vikings and Rams.

26. Chicago Bears 2-5

Last Week 28

The Bears won for the second time in three games as they whipped the Raiders 30-12 with backup Tyson Bagent getting the start. The Bears are looking better, but have two straight road games coming up. They play at the Chargers and at the Saints before playing the Panthers at home. They could win all three of these games.

27. Las Vegas Raiders 3-4

Last Week 21

The Raiders went to Chicago and got blasted by the Bears on Sunday. Jimmy Garoppolo was out and backups Brian Hoyer and Aiden O’Connell couldn’t get the offense going. A trip to Detroit looms and things could get much worse for the Raiders.

28. Washington Commanders 3-4

Last Week 22

The Commanders looked awful on offense on Sunday as they scored just seven points in a loss to the Giants. They have now lost four of five and a home game against the Eagles on Sunday doesn’t make things any easier.

29. New England Patriots 2-5

Last Week 31

The Patriots looked like a capable football team on Sunday as they upset the Bills. We still need to see it a little more to move them up the rankings, but it was a step in the right direction. Win on Sunday in Miami and they will make a big jump.

30. New York Giants 2-5

Last Week 29

The Giants scored just 14 points on Sunday, but were still able to get the win as they held the Commanders to just seven. The offense still needs a lot of work, but they got the win and snapped a four-game losing streak.

31. Arizona Cardinals 1-5

Last Week 30

The Cardinals lost their fourth straight game on Sunday despite giving up just 20 points. They played the Seahawks tough, but the offense just couldn’t get anything going in the 20-10 loss. A home date with the Ravens awaits this Sunday.

32. Carolina Panthers 0-6

Last Week 32

The Panthers were off on Sunday, which means they didn’t lose. They remain the lone winless team in the NFL, but they have two straight home games coming up. The Texans and Colts come to town as they try and find a way to get that elusive win.
