The hosts head into the meeting having been able to secure a total of 19 points out of their 13 matches so far in the clausura 2024 campaign, courtesy of an overall record of five wins, four draws and four losses. The club is currently on a two-match unbeaten run, which snapped a two-game losing streak for Chivas in league play. The first outing of the unbeaten streak was a scoreless finish against eternal rival Club América on March 16 at Akron Stadium.

Then, Chivas visited BBVA Stadium last Saturday to face Monterrey. The match ended in a 2-0 finish in favor of Guadalajara, thanks to goals from Héctor Moreno (own goal) and Ricardo Marín.
Monterrey had two players sent off in the match. First, Gerardo Arteaga just before halftime. Then, the club was left with nine men when Jorge Rodríguez was sent off in the 82nd minute.
