How to Watch Sparks at Mercury: Stream WNBA Live, TV Channel

Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury take on rookie Cameron Brink and the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA preseason today.

The WNBA season is right around the corner with every team continuing to get into a rhythm in the preseason. The Phoenix Mercury host the Los Angeles Sparks in a rivalry that is as old as the WNBA itself. This season will be a new chapter with the teams moving in very different directions. Phoenix added Kahleah Copper to the fold along with legends Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner for the franchise’s fourth championship, which would tie the team for the most in league history. For Los Angeles, it features two high-profile rookies drafted in the first round in Cameron Brink and Rikea Jackson to help start a rebuild around two potential stars.

In Los Angeles’ pre-season debut, the team defeated the Seattle Storm 84-79 with both rookies scoring in double figures. Brink started and finished with 11 points, three rebounds and two blocks while Jackson came off the bench for 10 points and four rebounds in the win.

Phoenix lost its first preseason game to Seattle in a one-sided 85-59 loss. Taurasi (10 points) and Griner (five points) played just 15 minutes each while newcomer Copper added six points in just 14 minutes of action. As a team Phoenix shot 31.9% from the field and had just 28 points in the first half. Seattle had 28 points in the first period.

This season for Phoenix is a championship or bust one as the team is anchored by a 41-year-old Taurasi, 33-year-old Griner and traded away a top-four pick along with a key member of the rotation in Brianna Turner for Copper in the offseason.
