S1, EP14 "Gun Fire Tests"

Jurors watched test-firing police did inside the Farris home during their on-site investigation. The aim was to reenact the manner in which Gary Farris lost his life to fatal gunshots and then his dead body dragged to a burn pile to incinerated and then later buried. Prosecutors had former Lieutenant Chris Shaw walked the jury through on how Gary was fatally shot in his own home and the his remains covered up in a burn pile outside.

The State called in a fire battalion chief to the stand. Crime scene investigators who testified earlier recalled that the burn pile where Gary Farris' remains were found were so hot and burning they called the fire department to come out. His family began searching the property and the neighborhood for him.

S1, EP10 "The Lead Investigator"

So far crime scene photos dominated this trial. Just hours after police showed up to the scene where Gary Farris' remains lied, crime scene technicians took numerous photos, flew drones, and processed key pieces of evidence. The prosecution team hoped all the crime scene photos would show evidence proving Melody killed her husband of 38-years. What started off with a hunch that he accidentally fell into a fire pit turned into details of a cover-up in a fatal shooting.

S1, EP9 "Trail Of Blood"

Follow the bloody trail was the theme in the crime scene technician's testimony. Investigators found blood stains in different parts of the home. The death investigation of Gary Farris, a prominent real estate attorney, was an evidence-heavy case. Crime scene investigators uncovered a trail of blood, bullet projectiles, and other key pieces of evidence linked to how Gary lost his life. The tedious task in processing a large crime scene was made clear to jurors.

S1, EP8 "Processing The Large Crime Scene"

The State called in another crime scene technician in their case accused Melody Farris of killing her husband, Gary. Police needed all the support to scour the 10-acre family property collecting key evidence and looking for incriminating clues. Jurors learned how investigators split duty in processing the crime scene. One crime scene technician worked the outside area of the property. Another crime scene technician focused on the family home.

According to prosecutors in their opening statements, money was the motive for this murder. Next, Melody Farris' defense delivered their opening remarks to the jury. They claimed police acted on confirmation bias when they allegedly narrowed erroneously on the defendant for the death of her husband, Gary. A complicated family coupled with a complicated police investigation all led to fingers pointing at Melody Farris for first-degree murder.
