Washington and Cal look to advance to the second round of the 2024 Pac-12 Championship in beach volleyball on Wednesday.

The two middle seeds in the Pac-12 Championship of college beach volleyball puts fourth-seeded Washington and fifth-seeded Cal on either side of the net. Both teams are looking to advance in the winners bracket to the quarterfinals of this year’s tournament. The winner of this match will face off with the winner of four-time champion and top-seeded USC and the winner of the play-in match between Utah and Oregon. These teams come in about as evenly matched as any in the tournament this season with losses to close the regular season and similar records in a neutral setting with the Pac-12 Championship being played in Tempe, Arizona this season.

This season the teams have split the season series with the Huskies winning the first during the Pac-12 North Tournament and the Golden Bears evening up the series at the Stanford Invite just five days ago.

In the first match, the Huskies had a home state advantage and used that to come away with the 3-2 win. Only two of the sets went to three games with the Huskies winning one and the Golden Bears taking one as well.

Then in the second match the Golden Bears were dominant in a more comfortable setting in Northern California. They won 4-1 in a much longer, more competitive match despite the final score with four of the five sets going to a third and final game as the teams went back-and-forth. This third match in the Pac-12 Championship serves as the rubber match for both teams this season.
