The Tigers and Commodores enter this series with a 14-13 in-conference record. With three games left, they’re two of six teams with 13 or 14 wins in the SEC. All six of those teams are locked into at-large bids in the conference tournament, meaning the winner of this weekend’s series will walk away with a better seed starting next week.
Vanderbilt is coming off a key series win last weekend, taking two of three from then-No. 4 Arkansas. That included a 10th inning win in the series opener. On Tuesday, the Commodores then picked up a 7-2 win over Middle Tennessee.
LSU was on the wrong side of a sweep last weekend, dropping three games at home against Ole Miss. The Tigers got back on the right track on Tuesday, taking down Northwestern State 19-7.
