Tennessee is favored to win the national title and hopes to start that journey with a win over Alabama State this afternoon.
Tennessee and Alabama State will meet today for their first game in the Knoxville Regional, which the Volunteers are hosting. Tennessee is currently 53-7 on the season, which has earned it the No. 1 ranked position in the nation and the Hornets have an overall record of 34-23.

The Volunteers will look to continue their winning streak, which sits at eight games. Tennessee had a stellar SEC tournament which they won after defeating Florida 8-5 in the title game on Sunday. The Vols also won the regular season title after going 25-5 in SEC play.
The team’s journey to a national title begins today against Alabama State, which made it to the NCAA tournament after winning the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship. The tournament’s final game was a nail-biter that went to 14 innings and the Hornets won 6-5 to end their six-year hiatus from the NCAA tournament.
