On Thursday night, No. 3 Tennessee (37-8, 15-6 SEC) has a chance to get back in the win column. The Volunteers are heading down to Gainesville, where they’ll begin a three-game series against Florida (23-21, 9-12 SEC) at Condron Family Ballpark. With three weeks left to go before the SEC tournament the Vols are chasing their rival No. 8 Kentucky and currently sit one game back in the SEC East standings. The Vols were gaining ground and building momentum with a six-game winning streak over the past few weeks, but that streak ended in their most recent game – a 9-6 loss to Lipscomb in a mid-week, non-conference matchup on Tuesday.

Graduate lefty Chris Stamos is scheduled to get the start on Tuesday. The Cal transfer has appeared in 14 games this year, with Thursday set to be his fourth start. He’s thrown 18.2 innings over those 14 appearances, posting a 3-0 record with a 2.89 ERA and 18 strikeouts.
Redshirt sophomore lefty Pierce Coppola will get the start for Florida on Thursday. This will be his fourth appearance, and fourth start of the season. Last time out against Arkansas last week he allowed one hit and one earned run in three innings, while striking out six hitters.
