New Mexico State at Liberty – Conference USA

Friday 7 pm ET on CBSSN

It is the conference favorite against the Cinderella story. New Mexico State is two years removed from winning just one game and started this year with a loss to UMass and was just 2-3 after five games. They haven’t lost since and come in on an eight-game winning streak which includes a win over Auburn.

Liberty didn’t lose the whole year and comes into the game 12-0. One of those wins was back in Week 3 when they beat New Mexico State 33-17. The Aggies led 17-13 in the second quarter, but the Flames would score the last 20 points to take the win away.

We like the Flames in this one, but it is going to be much closer.

Liberty 31 New Mexico State 28

Miami (OH) vs Toledo in Detroit – MAC

Saturday 12 pm ET on ESPN

These two teams are a combined 21-3 on the season and one of those losses was when they played each other back on October 21st. The Rockets took that win as they built a 21-3 lead heading into halftime and then withstood a second-half rally.

The Red Hawks shut out the Rockets in the second half of that game and then won four games to finish off the season. The Rockets, on the other hand, haven’t lost since the first game of the year when they nearly upset Illinois.

The Red Hawks played the Rockets tough in the first game and we think they will get their revenge in the championship game and snap the Rockets’ 11-game winning streak.

    Miami (OH) 24 Toledo 21

Boise State vs UNLV in Las Vegas – Mountain West

Saturday 3 pm ET on FOX

Boise State and UNLV finished tied with San Jose State in the Mountain West, but because the two teams didn’t play in the regular season an average of four computers chose the two teams and the Spartans were left out in the cold.

The Broncos finished the year just 7-5, but three of those losses were in the non-conference. They did beat San Jose State this year, but they also suffered a crazy loss to Colorado State where they gave up 21 points in the last four minutes to lose. They do come in on a three-game winning streak and playing their best football of the year.

The Rebels nearly blew their chance of making the championship game as they lost to the Spartans 37-31 last Saturday. The loss was just their second in the last 10 games and snapped a three-game winning streak.

This is a toss-up, but we think UNLV completes its surprising season with a conference championship.

    UNLV 38 Boise State 34

Appalachian State at Troy – Sun Belt

Saturday 4 pm ET on ESPN

Troy comes in red-hot as the Trojans have won nine in a row and it helped them run away with the West division. They finished a full three games up on three teams and left no doubt who the best team in the division was. Their only loss in the conference was to James Madison in a 16-14 game.

The Mountaineers are also streaking as they have won five straight including a huge 26-23 win over James Madison two weeks ago. Despite that win over the Dukes they only got in the championship game because the Dukes were ineligible thanks to NCAA rules on moving up to Division 1.

They earned second place, though, and will now get their shot at a title. Both of these teams are playing great and we expect a fun close game. The Trojans, though, get the nod.

    Troy 42 Appalachian State 38

SMU at Tulane – American Athletic

    Saturday 4 pm ET ABC

Both teams come into the game undefeated in conference play and are a combined 21-3 on the season. All three of those losses came against major conference competition.

The Mustangs have won eight straight and won all but two games by at least 18 points. The Green Wave have rolled off 10 straight wins, but have had much closer games as they have won four games by seven or less.

This should be a good game, but we think the Mustangs pull off the upset and knock off the Green Wave.

    SMU 31 Tulane 24

Oregon vs Washington in Las Vegas – Pac-12

Friday 8 pm ET on ABC

In the last Pac-12 championship game, we get a top-six matchup between the Ducks and the Huskies. They come in with one total loss and that was when the Huskies beat the Ducks 36-33 back on Oct. 14.

The Ducks have played as well as anyone in the country since as they have reeled off six straight wins and have won every one of them by nine or more.

The Huskies have remained undefeated, but it hasn’t been easy. They have won six of their 12 games by a single score and the last two have come by a combined five points. They have been living on the edge, but they have won every game.

This game is essentially a playoff game as the winner will likely make the CFP, while the loser will head to a New Year’s Six Bowl. We think Oregon will get its revenge and pick up the Pac-12 championship in a high-scoring game.

    Oregon 42 Washington 37

Oklahoma State at Texas in Arlington, TX – Big 12

Saturday 12 pm ET on ABC

The Longhorns are fighting for their playoff lives on Saturday against an Oklahoma State team that needed overtime to get by BYU and make the title game.

The Longhorns are in a good spot to make the CFP if one of the undefeated teams slips up. They have arguably one of the best wins of the year as they beat Alabama on the road earlier this year.

Oklahoma State isn’t going to make the playoffs, but they can give Texas a rude parting gift with an upset win. The Cowboys season started slow, but they have been playing well since. They will still be a big underdog though.

Texas has been living on the edge for a while, but they just have too much for the Cowboys and get the easy win.

    Texas 34 Oklahoma State 20

Georgia vs Alabama in Atlanta – SEC

Saturday 4 pm ET on CBS

The last time Georgia lost a game was in 2021 when Alabama upset the Bulldogs in the SEC Championship game. The Bulldogs still got into the playoffs and won the title over the Crimson Tide and then went undefeated last year to do it again.

The Crimson Tide are looking to repeat the 2021 outcome and get another SEC title. With a win the Crimson Tide have a good chance to make the playoff, but they needed a miracle to get into this spot. They almost lost to rival Auburn on Saturday but converted a 4th and 31 to win the game.

They won’t be in that position again as the Bulldogs come to play and win by 10.

    Georgia 31 Alabama 21

Louisville vs Florida State in Charlotte, NC – ACC

Saturday 8 pm ET on ABC

Louisville is the surprise team in the ACC, but the Cardinals took a little luster off the game after losing to Kentucky on Saturday. The Cardinals still come into the game 10-2 and capable of beating the Seminoles.

The Seminoles, though, are undefeated and looking to make it to the CFP. With a win, they are probably in, but they can’t lose and get in. They are still without quarterback Jordan Travis who was lost to a leg injury.

They survived their first test against Florida and will look to do it again against the Cardinals. We think they get it done and make the CFP.

    Florida State 27 Louisville 21

Michigan vs Iowa in Indianapolis, IN – Big Ten

Saturday 8 pm ET on FOX

This a rematch of the 2021 Big Ten Championship game when the Wolverines rolled the Hawkeyes 42-3. The Wolverines have lost just one game since and that was in the playoff last year to TCU.

Michigan is coming off a third straight win over Ohio State and with a win on Saturday, they will head to the CFP for a third straight year.

The Hawkeyes, though, are looking to shock the Wolverines and disrupt the playoff selection.

The Hawkeyes have done it all year with defense, but in their one game against a powerhouse East team they lost 31-0 to Penn State and gained just 76 total yards. It may not be that bad, but it could be.

The Hawkeyes defense is great, but the offense has been just as bad. Michigan is on a mission and they win this one easily.

    Michigan 31 Iowa 3
