Kent State will look to upset Notre Dame when they meet on Saturday in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
On Saturday afternoon, 15th-seeded Kent State will take on second-seeded Notre Dame in the first round of the NCAA tournament as the teams look to keep dancing their way to a national championship. The Golden Flashes come into tournament play with an overall record of 21-10 and are on a three-game win streak after earning the title in the MAC Tournament with a 78-60 win over Buffalo in the final. Katie Shumate led the team in scoring with 18 points while Jenna Batsch and Dionna Gray each finished the game with 14 points. Bridget Dunn led the team on the boards by pulling down a total of 12 rebounds and added seven points to the scoreboard.

The Fighting Irish bring an eight-game win streak into Saturday’s game and an overall record of 26-6 after winning the ACC championship. The team had a tough road to the final with games against fifth-seeded Louisville, top-seeded Virginia Tech and second-seeded NC State, but were able to make it through unscathed with a 55-51 win over the Wolf Pack in the final. Hannah Hidalgo led once again for the Fighting Irish with 22 points. Sonia Citron pulled down eight rebounds to lead on the boards and added 11 points to the scoreboard.
This will be the first-ever meeting between Notre Dame and Kent State. The winner will play either Ole Miss or Marquette.
