The Cleveland Guardians will stay on the road for their fourth and final game of a four-game series with the Oakland Athletics to open the season on Sunday. The Guardians lead the series 3-0. They shutout the Athletics in the first game 8-0 with ace Shane Bieber striking out 11 batters ,giving up no earned runs in six innings. He got offensive help from Brayan Rocchio, the 23-year-old shortstop, who had two RBIs and five other batters who had a single RBI. The second game was closer with Logan Allen going five innings and picking up the win 6-4. Jose Ramirez blasted his first home run of the season with two RBIs. Andres Gimenez also had two RBIs. Saturday, Cleveland took game three by nine runs, 12-3. Nick Sandlin pitched in the win, going one inning with two strikeouts. Steven Kwan homered in the outing with two RBIs, going 3-for-5 in the leadoff spot. Three other players had two RBIs each.

The former New York Met, Carlos Carrasco, will get his first start of the season for Cleveland here today since joining the team. The right-hander went just 3-8 in 2023 with a 6.80 ERA and just 66 strikeouts with a 1.70 WHIP.
Oakland will give the nod in the last game of this series to Paul Blackburn. The right-hander will also get his first start of the 2024 year after finishing just 4-7 during 2023. He also finished with a 4.43 ERA over the course of last season with 104 strikeouts and a 1.54 WHIP.
