On the mound for Arizona in the second game of this series and with the opportunity to give New York its first loss of the season is ace right-hander Zac Gallen (1-0) taking on left-hander Nestor Cortes (0-0).
New York patched together five runs between the second and third innings with singles, doubles, a sacrifice fly and a throwing error to build an early lead. None of the big bats for New York went yard, rather relying on Oswaldo Cabrera, Gleyber Torres, Anthony Volpe and Austin Wells to all chip in runs.
Arizona will try to get in the win column behind its veteran ace today. Gallen started the season with a win in his first start striking out three in 5.0 innings and allowing just three hits and one earned run. He is coming off his best season last year and a run to the World Series, making Gallen one of the best pitchers in the National League.
