Fantasy Football Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Advice for Week 4

When decision become hard, rest assured that these simple helps can manufacture a win at any point in the season for your team.

Everyone has been there. Your team is 1-2 or 0-3, you think the season is crumbling with star injuries, lack of performance and matchups that are just unfortunate. I am here to tell you that you can still win. It just takes a few good decisions to turn an entire week around, like starting Devon Achane last week. Some of these players will be stars who need to find their way to the bench no matter how much they are started across the league. Some players are up-and-comers that need to be in the lineup now and in the future. Here are the top sit-and-start candidates for Week 4.

Start: Jordan Love, QB, Packers

Jordan Love has now proven production in three straight games scoring more than 25 points per week. In two separate weeks, he threw for over 245 yards and three touchdowns. Against an easy Raiders’ secondary, I expect Love to top 250 yards and two touchdowns at least.

Sit: Justin Fields, QB, Bears

It has come time for fantasy managers that roster Justin Fields to find his way to the bench. Hopefully not for the season and hopefully not for long, but 99 yards and a touchdown with an interception is not going to get it done. He does go up against a weak Broncos’ secondary, but at this point, he has to prove back into the roster, not get the benefit of the doubt.

Start: Javonte Williams, RB, Broncos

Javonte Williams is right near Justin Fields, but I am going to give him one more chance. Chicago’s defensive line might be the easiest in the NFL and if he can’t get it going against this matchup, then he will be hard for fantasy managers to trust again this year at all. He will need to top 70 yards on the ground and three receptions for 20 or more yards to be successful.

Sit: Rachaad White, RB, Buccaneers

Rachaad White had a great second week with 73 yards and a touchdown on the ground with five receptions for 30 yards in the air. He surpassed 20 points and was the RB8 on the week. Last week, he fell to RB33 and is playing another tough defense in the Saints. He is not a weekly bench, but against a matchup like this, he will be stuffed often and the team will be playing from behind.

Start: Calvin Ridley, WR, Jaguars

Neither Calvin Ridley nor Trevor Lawrence have looked good since Week 1. He has eight receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown in the first week. In the last two weeks, he has five receptions for 72 yards and zero touchdowns, seeing only 15 total targets in two weeks. He will have a little more favorable matchup and I expect both Lawrence and Ridley to bounce back this week.

Sit: Garrett Wilson, WR, Jets

I don’t know if there will come a time the rest of this season when Garrett Wilson can be trusted. With Zach Wilson as his quarterback, he is a boom or major bust candidate every week. He has totaled just 12 receptions for 165 yards and two touchdowns. The two touchdowns have saved his weeks too; otherwise, he would be averaging less than 10 fantasy points per week.

Start: Sam LaPorta, TE, Lions

Sam LaPorta is officially breaking the mold of first-round tight ends being non-productive in their first year. After slowly getting started over the first couple of weeks, he broke free in Week 3 for eight receptions on 11 targets for 84 yards and his first NFL touchdown. With as pass-happy as this offense can get, I foresee big games in his future.

Sit: Kyle Pitts, TE, Falcons

Kyle Pitts is on this sit list for no other reason than Desmond Ridder can not find a way to get the massive target of the ball. He has seen just 17 targets this season and caught nine passes for 100 yards. Last week, Ridder missed Pitts wide open over the middle of the field that could have easily been an 84-yard house call. He just simply can’t be trusted in the fantasy world right now.
