The 5 Best Games On the NFL’s Week 3 Slate

Fubo News breaks down the five best games on the Week 3 NFL slate. Catch all of the NFL action live on Fubo.

Through the first two weeks of the 2023 NFL schedule, games have been closer than at any point in league history. So far the average scoring margin in the league this year is just 9.5 points, which is on pace to be lower than last year’s record-setting 9.7 mark.

Based on the Week 3 schedule, this trend has a good chance to continue. Let’s take a look at what figures to be the five most interesting/exciting games of the week.

5. New England Patriots (0-2) at New York Jets (1-1)

Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS

If you like defense, this game is for you. The Patriots and Jets both had top-10 defenses last year and have picked up where they left off to start this season.

At the same time, both teams are at a crossroads on offense. Aaron Rodgers’ injury has thrust Zach Wilson – who has struggled significantly against the Patriots in his career – back into the spotlight. Meanwhile, New England has gotten a solid start from Mac Jones but that hasn’t been enough to elevate the entire offensive unit, which is averaging just 18.5 points per game through two games. Which team will come out on top of this AFC East rock fight?

4. Atlanta Falcons (2-0) at Detroit Lions (1-1)

Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET on FOX

The Falcons have surprised a lot of people as they’ve gotten out to a 2-0 start but now face their toughest test so far this Sunday. They’ll be on the road for the first time, visiting the Lions. While the Falcons are the upstart team few saw coming, many expected Detroit to play that role heading into the season. After opening with a win at the Kansas City Chiefs, the Lions got upended last week in their home opener by the Seattle Seahawks. This week’s game should be a good measuring stick for both teams.

3. Los Angeles Chargers (0-2) at Minnesota Vikings (0-2)

1:00 p.m. ET on FOX

It’s the Time To Panic? Bowl for Week 3 with the winless Chargers visiting the winless Vikings. Both of these teams were expected to be in the playoff picture coming into the year, but now have the odds stacked against them (since 1990, only 11.5% of all teams to start 0-2 have made the playoffs). Which team gets back on the right track this week?

2. Philadelphia Eagles (2-0) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0)

7:15 p.m. ET on ABC

In the only matchup between unbeaten teams this week, the defending NFC-champion Eagles take on the upstart Bucs. Tampa has had no issues to start the post-Tom Brady era, with Baker Mayfield starting the season by throwing for 490 yards through the first two games, completing 69.1 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and no picks. Can he keep it up against the Eagles’ vaunted defensive front?

1. Los Angeles Rams (1-1) at Cincinnati Bengals (0-2)

8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN 2

Our Game of the Week for Week 3, and the second half of the Monday Night Football double-header, is a rematch of Super Bowl LVI. It pits the Rams – who have been surprisingly competitive so far this season despite their overhauled roster – against a Bengals team that is still searching for its first win of the year. A win by Joe Burrow & Co. would do a lot to steady the ship in Cincy, can they pull it off?
