The NFL is headed in Week 3 of the regular season, and there are still handfuls of players who are free agents that should be rostered on teams. Whether the team just needs help with a position, injuries have broken down the depth or that person would put their team over the edge, here are the top-five players who are still free agents and teams that could use their services.

5. Akiem Hicks, DT

Akiem Hicks played his 2022 season in Tampa Bay, starting 11 games and finishing with three pass defends, one sack and 22 tackles – including two for a loss. Hicks is heading into this 13th year in the league logging one Pro Bowl under his belt in that timespan.

Hicks would be a great depth piece on a team allowing them to be more aggressive on the defensive line. The 335-pound pass rusher has proven to be effective if given the chance.

Teams in Need: Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns

4. Carson Wentz, QB

The fact that a quarterback like Carson Wentz is still available is inconceivable. There are not 32 better backup quarterbacks in the league better than him, and all it will take is one quarterback injury to give him a job.

He last started seven games for Washington throwing for 1,755 yards and 11 touchdowns in that span. In his last full season with the Colts, he threw for 3,563 yards and 27 touchdowns with a 62.4% completion percentage.

Teams in Need: Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders

3. Jarvis Landry, WR

Jarvis Landry is a 10-year veteran receiver in the NFL with five Pro Bowl appearances in 10 years. In his last season with the Cleveland Browns, Landry pulled in 52 receptions on 87 targets with 570 yards and two touchdowns. In his last Pro Bowl season, Landry had 83 catches for 1,174 yards and six touchdowns with the Browns.

Landry will not come into an existing wide receiving corps and be the WR1 or top target on a team, but he does offer value in teams that like to run three-wide receiver sets and open up the field on the outside and in the middle.

Teams in Need: Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, New York Giants

2. Leonard Fournette, RB

Running back has been the most-injured position on the offense through two weeks in the NFL. Over five starting running backs are banged up with at least two out for the remainder of the season. Leonard Fournette could be a huge competitor to a team in need of a running back early in the season.

Fournette ran 369 times for 1,580 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground in the last two years with Tom Brady and the Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The six-year veteran has ample agility to make a viable NFL running back.

Teams in Need: Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Rams, Cleveland Browns

1. Taylor Lewan, OT

Offensive lines are one of the most important positions on the field – just ask the quarterback. Taylor Lewan is a three-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle who most recently played with the Tennessee Titans before dealing with some injuries. Despite playing just two games last season, the 32-year-old still has some left in the tank.

There are several teams in the NFL that are having offensive line problems protecting the quarterback and opening up holes for the run game. That is where Lewan would fit in perfectly.

Teams in Need: Chicago Bears, New York Giants, Los Angeles Rams
