Day one brought champions in men’s discus and women’s hammer throw and long jump. Andrew Evans won the men’s discus with a throw of 207 feet and eight inches. Brooke Andersen won the women’s hammer with a throw of 255 feet and nine inches. Quanesha Burks jumped to victory in the long jump with a mark of 23 feet and two inches.

Tonight, the United States’ top sprinters will put on a show in the 100-meter finals. Runners to watch in the men’s race will be Trayvon Bromell, who recorded a 9.80 at the 2020 Olympic Trials and has run a 9.76 this season.

On the women’s side, a notable face that will be missing in the 100-meter final will be Sha’Carri Richardson who did not make it out of the first round yesterday. Richardson was a favorite to represent the U.S. at worlds in the 100- and 200-meter races. Richardson not competing in the finals will open the door for other up-and-coming sprinters to make their mark on the track tonight.

Tune in tonight to see who will be representing the U.S. next month, again in Eugene, for the world championships.

Regional restrictions may apply.
