For the second time in under 20 years, the Green Bay Packers have threaded the needle at the quarterback position. The team went from one Hall of Fame quarterback to another when they transitioned from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers and now they look set for the future with Jordan Love, who grabbed the baton from Rodgers. It has only been three games but Love is already winning games for Green Bay, putting up top-tier stats for the position and most importantly, looking like a high-caliber starting quarterback in the NFL.

Love was drafted 26th in the 2020 NFL draft, at a time when Green Bay was trying to compete for a Super Bowl and its starting quarterback was not excited to see a first-round pick used for a potential future replacement.
In his first two seasons, Love started just one game and appeared in 10 total games. Rodgers went out and won the MVP during Love’s rookie year, partially as a statement to the front office that he still had it.
For Rodgers, he was drafted 24th in the 2005 NFL Draft, sitting for three years before the team pulled the plug on Favre paving the way for a Hall of Fame career.
Now, nobody is implying that Love is on a path to winning three (Favre) or four (Rodgers) league MVPs, but there are signs that he is a quarterback to build around. The legacy that Favre and Rodgers left is one of a lot of individual success, but also just one Super Bowl ring apiece. A bar that Love can target, and if he is able to accomplish, will put him up there with the Green Bay greats and give the franchise another quarterback with a Super Bowl ring.

Love is putting together a season here through three games that will move him up the quarterback tiers if he can maintain this pacing.
Right now, he is tied with Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen for the fifth-best total QBR (69.2), only behind Tua Tagovailoa (82.9), Brock Purdy (78.8), Justin Herbert (74.7) and Jared Goff (70.8). He has 655 yards (218 yards per game), seven touchdowns and only one interception. Love has one of the best touchdown-to-interception ratios in the league and is one of the most elusive quarterbacks for defenders trying to take him down in the backfield.
The big moment of the season came last week when Love led Green Bay on a comeback from down 17-0 to an 18-17 win over the New Orleans Saints. Those are the games that start to build a legacy. In the win, Love drove the team down for a field goal before punching home a touchdown with his legs and then an eight-yard pass to Romeo Doubs with just under three minutes to play.

This play from Love has Green Bay at the top of the NFC North again, tied with the Detroit Lions with the teams facing off this week.
Love passed his first test in the division against the Chicago Bears (38-20), playing his best overall offensive game. Now against Detroit, he has the chance to show that not only the baton being passed from Rodgers to Love but also that the ownership of the division was transferred successfully too.
