How to Watch Atletico Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund: Stream Champions League Live, TV Channel

Champions League quarterfinalists Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are each looking to Europe to salvage their seasons on Wednesday.

The Champions League quarterfinals get underway on Wednesday when Borussia Dortmund will make the trip to Atletico Madrid hoping to claim a first-leg advantage in hostile territory. Los Rojiblancos has endured a difficult campaign on the domestic front but find themselves with a shot at European glory after knocking last season’s runner-up, Inter Milan, out of the competition on penalties in the last round. It’s been a similar tale for the Black and Yellows as they look to conquer Europe for the first time in almost 30 years, which could be critical to their hopes of making it back into next term’s Champions League.

Despite its struggles in recent months, Atletico is still on track to snag a top-four finish in La Liga and qualify for a Champions League return as things stand.

However, the same can’t be said for a Dortmund team that’s recently slipped to fifth in the Bundesliga.

Sehrou Guirassy’s 1-0 winner at Signal Iduna Park over the weekend was a hammerblow to Edin Terzic’s prospects and allowed RB Leipzig to move up to fourth while taking Stuttgart level on points with Bayern Munich.

The only previous meetings between these two teams took place in the group stage of the 2018-19 Champions League and saw the home team prevail on both occasions.

A Raphael Guerreiro double propelled Dortmund to a 4-0 win on German soil before Atleti all but returned the favor in Madrid, winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Saul and Antoine Griezmann.

Both of those players continue to play their roles at the Estadio Civitas Metropolitano, as was demonstrated by Saul’s 87th-minute decider off the bench away to Villarreal last time out.

Memphis Depay came off during that win and has since emerged as a fitness doubt for Atletico, who will already be without Mario Hermoso and long-term absentee Thomas Lemar.

Meanwhile, Dortmund has a Dutch doubt of its own in Donyell Malen, who will face a late fitness test before he plays any role in the Atletico cauldron.

    Regional restrictions may apply.
