Alabama and Tennessee will meet for the second game of their SEC series on Saturday evening.
A top 20 matchup will take place on Saturday night when No. 7 Tennessee takes on No. 12 Alabama in the second game of the teams’ SEC series in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide bring a two-game losing streak into Saturday’s game after dropping the series opener on Friday night in a 5-0 shutout which brings their overall record to 31-13 and their conference record to 8-11 for a spot in ninth place in the standings. The loss was credited to Kayla Beaver who pitched six innings and struck out four batters. Tennessee held Alabama to just three hits in the game, forcing the team to take the loss.

The Lady Vols have now won three straight games and are in first place in the SEC standings with a conference record of 15-4 and an overall record of 36-8. Zaida Puni went 3-for-4 at the plate in last night’s win to lead the team and brought in two runs with a two-run homer in the seventh inning. McKenna Gibson also finished the game with two RBI from a single and a flyout. Payton Gottshall took the win, her 18th of the season, pitching a complete game and striking out four batters.
