Thorpedo Anna goes to the post as the 5/2 favorite for the Kentucky Oaks, America’s premier race for 3-year-old fillies, at Churchill Downs on Friday
The feature race for Friday’s pre-Kentucky Derby Oaks Day, the $1.5 million Kentucky Oaks, takes center stage on Friday afternoon at Louisville’s famed Churchill Downs. The race, the premier event for 3-year-old fillies, began in 1875 at the Louisville landmark and stands as one of the longest continually held sporting events in U.S. history. Thorpedo Anna, trained by Kenny McPeek and ridden by Brian Hernandez Jr., goes off as the favorite at 5/2 after opening at 5/1. Fifteen fillies remain in the field after Tapit Jenallie scratched out earlier in the week. Just F Y I, with trainer Bill Mott and Junior Alvarado, goes to the post at 9/2, while three fillies carry 7/1 odds.
