In the first meeting this season, Cagliari got the breakthrough goal from Nicolas Viola in the 46th minute then scored the game-winner 21 minutes later as Gabriele Zappa gave the Islanders the 2-1 win.

Cagliari is winless in its last nine visits across all competitions inside Stadio Luigi Ferraris having drawn just once since its win in 2014.
