Ryder Cup captains Harrington and Stricker are at the top of the leaderboard at Saucon Valley.
Padraig Harrington made a big move on Friday, firing a six-under 65, and takes a one-shot lead over Steve Stricker into Saturday’s third round of the U.S. Senior Open Championship at the Old Course of Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Harrington’s blistering second round is the second-best round of the tournament so far. Miguel Ángel Jiménez shot a 64 on Friday to make it to the weekend following a first-round 79.
The battle at the top of the leaderboard features the two Ryder Cup captains from last September’s competition. Stricker moved late on Friday by closing with three consecutive birdies to card a two-under 69.
Stricker won the U.S. Senior Open in 2019 and is a four-time senior major winner, most recently at The Tradition, where he beat Harrington by six strokes. Harrington was a three-time major winner and is still looking for his first win on the PGA Tour Champions circuit.
Defending champion Jim Furyk survived the cut at five-over-par, while Senior PGA Championship winner Steven Alker is in contention at 3-under after posting a second-round 67.
