Regular season play will come to a close on Sunday afternoon for Oklahoma State and Oklahoma in women’s softball action.
On Sunday afternoon, a top 25 matchup will take place between in-state rivals No. 2 Oklahoma and No. 4 Oklahoma State as the teams meet in their Big 12 series finale at Love’s Field. The two teams are currently tied in the conference standings, each holding a record of 21-5 against Big 12 opponents. Today’s game will determine which team finishes the season in second place behind conference-leading Texas. The Cowgirls are currently on a 10-game win streak after winning the second game in the series by a score of 6-2 on Saturday. The team will look to pull off the sweep with a win on Sunday to extend its win streak to 11 games heading into postseason play.

Yesterday’s win was credited to Lexi Kilfoyl in the circle to improve to 21-3 on the season with three innings of work in which she struck out three batters and only gave up two hits. Nicole May was responsible for the loss on Oklahoma’s side as she gave up three earned runs and eight hits in five innings of work. Jilyen Poullard finished the game with a team-leading RBI for the Cowgirls with a three-run homer to left field in the sixth inning to secure the victory for her team. Alynah Torres and Kasidi Pickering accounted for Oklahoma’s only runs with a single from Pickering in the fourth and a walk from Torres in the fifth.
