The Mutua Madrid Open moves into the quarterfinals for the WTA with Iga Swiatek in action today.
The women’s singles draw is into the quarterfinals of the 2024 Mutua Madrid Open with the top-ranked player in the draw in action today. Iga Swiatek is challenged by 11th seeded Beatriz Haddad Maia for the first slot in the semifinals on the line. Then in the second quarterfinal of the day eighth-seeded Ons Jabeur takes on 18th-seeded Madison Keys. The winners of those two matches will advance to the semifinals to face each other on Thursday this week. Over in the men’s singles draw all eight of the round of 16 matches will be played with seven matches featuring a top 10 seeded player and in the eighth, the legend Rafael Nadal will look to advance to the quarterfinals.

Nadal takes on 30th-seeded Jiri Lehecka in the round of 16. Nadal has won this tournament five times in his career between 2005 and 2017. Every year that Nadal has won this tournament he has also gone on to win the French Open that is right around the corner a month from now.
In the men’s round of 16 matches the day gets started with third-seeded Daniil Medvedev and seventh-seeded Andrey Rublev both looking to advance to the quarterfinals in their matches. Also in action are top-seeded Jannick Sinner, second-seeded Carlos Alcaraz, fourth-seeded Alexander Zverev, fifth-seeded Casper Ruud and eighth-seeded Hurbert Hurkacz as the remaining top 10 seeds.
Alcaraz is the two-time defending champion in this tournament and faces off with 23rd seeded Jan-Lennard Struff to advance to the quarterfinals. In that quarterfinal matchup Alcaraz would face the winner of Rublev vs. 24th seeded Tallon Griekspoor for a spot in the semifinals.
