They will send Jordan Hicks to the mound as they try and get that win. Hicks has been good this season as he comes into Saturday a perfect 2-0 with a 1.61 ERA. As Game 4 between the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets takes place tonight, a sweep is on the table. Denver has won each of the first three games in this opening-round series, proving to be a worthy reigning champion. It would take a near miracle for the Lakers to come back and win this series but never count LeBron James out. The Philadelphia Phillies will stay on the road for the second game of a three-game series against the San Diego Padres on Saturday night at Petco Park in southern California. The Phillies took game one of the series 9-3 yesterday night. Aaron Nola picked up his fourth win of the season after pitching eight innings with three earned runs on seven hits with 10 strikeouts. Philadelphia was blasting balls out of the park. It started in the first inning with Kyle Schwarber hitting a 379-foot homer. Bryce Harper went 396 feet in the third inning followed by Brandon Marsh hitting the ball 385 feet for his homer. Nick Castellanos joined his teammates in the third inning with a 398-foot home run himself. Marsh and Alec Bohm had the other two RBIs that weren’t home runs. The Padres’ Jake Cronenworth and Graham Pauley scored the three runs for the team.

In an XFL Division matchup in the UFL on Saturday, the San Antonio Brahmas take on the Arlington Renegades.

Saturday night at Choctaw Stadium, the Arlington Renegades (0-4) host the San Antonio Brahmas (3-1) in Week 5 XFL Division action in the UFL. As the halfway point of the 2024 season hits the Brahmas are trying to keep pace with the St. Louis Battlehawks – also 3-1 – at the top of this division. Both teams are 3-1 with St. Louis handing San Antonio its only loss of the year so far two weeks ago. Last week, the Brahmas bounced back at home, when they beat the Michigan Panthers 19-9 at the Alamodome. The third round of the 2024 JM Eagle LA Championship tees off with Grace Kim in the lead today.

Grace Kim (-12) heads into the weekend at the start of round three in the JM Eagle LA Championship with a four-stroke lead over the field. She has played the best golf in the field with rounds of 64 and 66 to start the tournament and is in a position to win her second tournament on the LPGA Tour. Kim starts the third round with a four-stroke lead over Maja Stark who is at eight under par. The rest of the field is a full six strokes behind Kim with just 36 holes left in the tournament starting with the third round today.

Ryan Nicholson, a first baseman, leads the team with 12 home runs with 38 RBIs. Émilien Pitre leads the team in RBIs with 39 on the season paired with five home runs. Both are batting over .300 this season. Mason Moore has been a dynamic pitcher and one of the best in the country. He is undefeated at 7-0 this season in 10 appearances with a 3.98 ERA. He has 45 strikeouts allowing 39 hits in 52 innings pitched.

UCLA begins its first year under new head coach DeShaun Foster when it plays its annual spring game on Saturday

DeShaun Foster leads UCAL out on the football field for the first time as a head coach on Saturday for the Bruins’ annual spring game. Foster takes over for Chip Kelly who left to become the offensive coordinator for Ohio State after the season. Foster takes over a team that will be moving to the Big Ten after leaving the Pac-12 with Oregon, Washington and USC. The Bruins are coming off an 8-5 season in 2023 that concluded with a 35-22 win over Boise State in the LA Bowl. The end of the regular season didn’t go as planned, though, as they lost three of their last four and dropped out of contention in the Pac-12.

Now they will have to compete in the loaded Big Ten as they try and climb back up into the ranks of national contenders.

It isn’t going to be easy, though, as they will travel to LSU for a huge non-conference battle in Week 3 and they also must travel to Penn State, Nebraska and Washington.

They will welcome Oregon, Iowa and USC to town in their toughest home games. They avoid both Michigan and Ohio State this year, though.

North Carolina will look to pull off an upset over No. 11 Florida State on Saturday in the second game of the teams’ final ACC series of the regular season ahead of tournament play next weekend. The Tar Heels come into Saturday’s game with an overall record of 30-17 and a conference record of 10-12 for a spot in seventh place in the ACC standings. The team has lost two games in a row with the most recent being a 13-3 loss in the series opener against Florida State last night in six innings. The Seminoles held North Carolina to just four hits, only one of which was an extra-base hit as Carlie Myrtle hit a solo shot in the second inning. Kenna Raye Dark dropped to 8-5 on the season, taking the loss after 0.2 innings of pitching in which she gave up five earned runs.

The Seminoles are currently on a 12-game win streak and will look to add one more on Saturday. The team is now 38-10 overall with a conference record of 16-3 to hold the top spot in the ACC standings. Jahni Kerr, Isa Torres and Jaysoni Beachum each hit home runs in the win and Beachum led the team with an impressive five RBI. Ashtyn Danley improved to 14-3 on the season with 4.2 innings of work in which she gave up just three hits and struck out two batters.

The Cubs go for their fifth win in a row on Saturday afternoon when they visit the Red Sox

The Chicago Cubs battle the Boston Red Sox on Saturday afternoon in the middle game of their three-game series. The Cubs came to Boston on Friday night and took the opener 7-1. The win was the fourth in a row and pushed their record to 17-9 on the season. Shota Imanaga was once again impressive as he gave up just one run in six and a third innings to move to 3-0 on the season. The Cubs will now send Ben Brown to the mound as they look to clinch the series win. Brown will be making his third start and sixth appearance on the season. The Cubs have won all five games he has pitched in.

The Red Sox will counter with Josh Winckowski to start the game. It will be just his second start of the season as he went three and third innings last Sunday in a win over the Pirates.

The loss on Friday was the second in a row for the Red Sox and the third in the last four games to drop them to 14-13 on the season.

They have lost two of their last three series and are looking to avoid dropping another one on Saturday.
