Washington hosts Stanford on Sunday in college softball action.

Husky Softball Stadium is set to host the exciting weekend matchup between home side Washington and visiting program Stanford on Sunday in college softball regular season action. The No. 8 Washington side picked up its 10th win over a ranked opponent to even the series against No. 7 Stanford on Saturday afternoon, 3-1. The Huskies improve to 31-9 on the season and 13-7 in Pac-12 action while Stanford falls to 38-11 (14-6 Pac-12). Lindsay Lopez (10-2) got the start for UW, tossing her fourth complete game on her way to earning her 10th win of the season. Lopez allowed just four hits and one run while striking out five.

With bases loaded in the second, Rylee Holtorf hit a single out to left to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead, driving in Sydney Stewart and Avery Hobson.

Then, Stanford made it a one-run game in the top of the sixth on an RBI single by Kyra Chan. The Huskies responded right back when Alana Johnson led off the home half of the sixth with her 12th home run of the season to extend the lead back out to two. She has hit nine home runs in conference action to lead the way.

Washington has now hit a home run in 13 consecutive games dating back to game one against Oregon State on March 28, recording 27 homers over that span.

The 11th race of the NASCAR Cup Series takes the field of drivers to Dover, Delaware for the Wurth 400 at Dover Motor Speedway. There are just three races, counting today, before the All-Star Break for NASCAR and the halfway point of the regular season. Kyle Larson holds a slight edge over the rest of the field through 10 races. He is coming off of back-to-back 21st place finishes allowing the rest of the field to play catch-up heading into this race today. Larson holds just a 15-point lead over Martin Truex Jr. in second place, who is very familiar with this track and race after winning here last season.

In last year’s race Truex Jr. came away with the win despite William Byron leading the most laps and Kyle Busch starting on the pole. Those three are the drivers to watch here today as the NASCAR Cup Series takes the track for the 11th time this season.

Busch also earned the pole for today’s race and is an early favorite to win the Wurth 400 this season. Ryan Blaney, Byron, Tyler Reddick and Noah Gragson are right behind Bush in the starting grid with the opportunity to get off to a strong start today.

Oregon hosts Northern Colorado on Sunday in college softball action.

The Oregon college softball team is set to host the Northern Colorado softball program on Sunday in regular season action. The Bears head into the meeting following a 4-0 shutout victory, along with a series triumph, over Portland State on Saturday at Gordon Faber Field 4. Erin Caviness and Nya Chacon powered the team from Colorado to victory, starting three-run home run from Chacon in the first inning. Meanwhile, Caviness tossed a complete-game shutout. Caviness improved to 15-7 in the circle this season, tossing her 17th complete game this season, including eight shutouts. She allowed no walks and scattered four hits while punching out seven.

Marcus Stroman and the New York Yankees will take the mound against Tobias Myers and the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday afternoon.

The New York Yankees will stay on the road and finish out a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Sunday afternoon. The Yankees came out firing on all cylinders to even the series up at 1-1 after a monstrous 15-3 win last night. Carlos Rodon picked up his second win of the season with a 6.0-inning performance with one earned run on two hits with eight strikeouts. There were four homers in the breakout game with one from Aaron Judge paired with two RBIs as well as Anthony Rizzo also paired with two RBIs. Giancarlo Stanton blasted one with three RBIs, and Alex Verdugo also hit a moon shot with four RBIs. Gleyber Torres has three RBIs as well on a 3-for-6 batting performance. The Brewers won the first game 7-6 in the bottom of the 11th inning with Joey Ortiz hitting the game-winning RBI single. He homered earlier in the game as well as Blake Perkins did.

The Washington Nationals wrap up their three-game series on Sunday afternoon when they take on the Miami Marlins. The Nationals came to Miami having been swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers to begin the week, but they have bounced back to take the first two games of this series. They used good pitching in the opener to win 3-1 and then got their bats going on Saturday as they scored 11 runs in their second straight win. Sunday they will give the ball to Patrick Corbin as they try and finish off the sweep. Corbin is still looking for his first win of the season as he comes into Sunday 0-3 with a. 6.51 ERA.

The Orioles have now won nine of their last 12 games and it has pushed their record to 17-9 on the season. The Orioles will now turn to Albert Suarez on the mound in the finale. Suarez will be making just his third start of the season and he has yet to give up a run. Team Penske, rocked by penalties that stripped Josef Newgarden of his victory at the season-opening Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, bounced back on Saturday as Scott McLaughlin won the pole position and Will Power earned the second spot on the starting grid for Sunday’s Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix. Newgarden and McLaughlin were disqualified from the St. Petersburg race last weekend after IndyCar Series officials determined the two drivers illegally used the Push to Pass system in the race. Power received a 10-point penalty in the standings after officials ruled he received illegal information but did not use it. The ruling also shook up the standings, with Newgarden plunging to 11th place and losing all but one point, earned for the fastest lap.

The Detroit Tigers will try to take this first series of the season at home against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.

The Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers head into this AL Central rivalry rubber match to decide this series on Sunday. The Royals dominated in the opener 8-0 but the Tigers rallied on Saturday to tie the series after a 6-5 win. The Tigers and Royals are coming for Cleveland for the top spot. Only 1.5 games separate KC and Detroit in the standings. The Detroit win ended a four-game winning streak for the Royals and helped the Tigers avoid losing three in a row. Kansas City looked like they had this game in the bag going into the bottom of the seventh inning with Detroit only scoring one run. But the Tigers exploded in the bottom of the frame for five runs highlighted by a three-run shot by Matt Vierling. The Royals threatened in the ninth scoring two runs but it was too little too late. Detroit will be the odds-on favorite to win the series with a -150 line this afternoon.

This year the PBA Bowling Tournament of Champions features five of the best bowlers in the world this season. The group has a look and feel to last year’s five with Anthony Simonsen, EJ Tackett, Matt Ogle and Jason Sterner all back to try and win the tournament. Last season those four fell just short as Jason Belmonte won the Tournament of Champions as the fifth member of the group. This season he is replaced with Marshall Kent, who has been on a run as of late this season earning his way into this championship tournament. The third place game in the Major League Table Tennis playoffs features Bay Area Blasters and Carolina Gold Rush today.

This season the Bay Area Blasters and Carolina Gold Rush made it all the way to the semifinals in the Major League Table Tennis, but both fell just short. With losses in the semifinals they earned a place in the third-place game to try and finish the season as the third-best team in the league. The championship game this season features the Texas Smash and the Princeton Revolution. These final two matches of the season take place in Chicago, Illinois in the Gentile Arena with all four teams looking to close out the season with a win today.

In the semifinals Bay Area fell to Princeton in a 21-11 rout with an opportunity to play for the championship this season. The match showed how competitive Bay Area has been all season as a contender for the championship after finishing 12-10 in the regular season and at the top of the West Division.

For Carolina, it finished at the top of the East Division and the entire league with a 16-6 record. They were one of the favorites to make it to the championship and even win the championship this season in Major League Table Tennis.

In their semifinal match Carolina fell to Texas 21-14 in a very competitive match. Ultimately they fell short and will play for third place this season, but not before a terrific regular season and performance in the playoffs to set the stage for this match against Bay Area today.

Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers host the New York Knicks in Game 4 of the first round today.

The Philadelphia 76ers (1-2) look to even the first-round series with the New York Knicks (2-1) at home after dropping the first two games on the road. Philadelphia came out in Game 3 with a very motivated Joel Embiid who, after getting settled in, went for 50 points on just 19 shot attempts in the win. For the game Embiid finished with 50 points, eight rebounds and four assists on 13-19 shooting (5-7 from three) and 19-21 from the free-throw line despite various injuries and a case of Bell’s Palsy that he has reportedly been playing through for over a week. Another performance like that from the reigning MVP would put Philadelphia in a position to tie the series and make this a best-of-three series.

Philadelphia leaned on the greatness of Embiid to win Game 3, but also has the Most Improved Player in the NBA this season Tyrese Maxey averaging 31.0 points, 7.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game on 51-39-100 shooting splits to put pressure on the New York defense.

For New York, Game 3 was another monster performance from Jalen Brunson who finished with 39 points and 13 assists going 10-12 from the free-throw line. For the series he is averaging 28.3 points, 8.7 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game as the fulcrum of the offense for New York this series.

New York is at its best when the offense has parity in scoring with Donte DiVincenzo, Josh Hart, OG Anunoby and the bench all coming to play, hitting threes and attacking the defense. They had that in the first two games and leaned more heavily on Brunson in the Game 3 loss.

The Buffalo Bison wrap up their six-game series with the Iowa Cubs on Sunday afternoon. The Bison have won three of the last four games and are looking to get a series win on Sunday. The Bison have been playing well lately as they have won seven of their last 10 games and it has helped move them into second place in the International League East. They are two games back of first place Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. They have won two of their last three series and are hoping they can do the same with another victory on Sunday afternoon.

Ole Miss snapped a 13-game SEC losing streak on Saturday, looks to win just its 2nd conference series of the season on Sunday against Auburn

Ole Miss (27-23) on Saturday won its first Southeastern Conference game since March 18, ending a 13-game SEC losing streak. On Sunday, the Rebels can secure their just their second SEC series victory of the season with a win over Auburn (25-16-1) at the Ole Miss Softball Complex in Oxford. At 4-16, Ole Miss holds last place in the 13-team conference while the Tigers fell into a tie for 11th place with Saturday’s defeat. The Rebels hold a streak of seven consecutive NCAA tournament appearances that could be in jeopardy. Auburn’s string of NCAA tourney bids stands at nine, including Women’s College World Series appearances in 2015 and 2016.

UBS Arena is set to host the exciting weekend matchup between New York and Toronto on Sunday in the Professional Women’s Hockey League. Toronto heads into the meeting as the top-ranked team in the PWHL standings with 38 points out of their 21 matches so far in the campaign, courtesy of an overall record of 10 wins, four overtime wins and seven losses. The team started off the month of April with a 2-1 loss to Boston at the Tsongas Center on April 18. Then, Toronto bounced back with a 3-2 victory over Montreal at the Bell Centre on April 20. Brendan Steele leads the players and Torque GC leads the teams as the LIV Adelaide heads into the last round on Sunday.

LIV Golf will continue the Adelaide Tournament in Australia this Sunday. The tournament is heading into round three with Brendan Steele leading the pack at 14-under-par. The 72-par course has a total of 6,899 yards including a round par five, 560-yard hole nine. Danny Lee follows Steele at 13-under-par after shooting an eight-under-par in round one and a five-under-par in round two. Carlos Ortiz rounds out the top three at 12-under-par. He also shot eight-under-par in round one and a four-under-par in round two. Mito Pereira is tied with Ortiz and had a better second round which should bode well heading into the final round. There are four golfers tied at 11-under-par including the Ripper GC captain Cameron Smith who shot a great seven-under-par after a round four-under-par in round one. He is the best team captain through two rounds. Louis Oosthuizen, captain of Stinger GC, and Joaquin Niemann, captain of Torque GC, are tied at 10-under-par as the next captains up.

No. 9 Georgia (37-12) bounced back to beat No. 12 Florida (38-12) on Saturday, evening their three-game Southeastern Conference series at a game apiece. With the loss, third-place Florida fell three games behind first-place Tennessee in the SEC race with four games remaining. Georgia, at 11-9, sits fifth and has no path to the regular-season championship. The Gators’ streak of consecutive NCAA tournament appearances stands at 22, with 11 Women’s College World Series trips and national titles in 2014 and 2015 in that span. The Bulldogs qualified for their first NCAA tourney in 2002 and haven’t missed since, with 21 straight appearances. None of their five visits to the WCWS resulted in a championship.

Sunday’s UFL action kicks off at noon with the DC Defenders hosting the St. Louis Battlehawks.

On Sunday afternoon, Week 5 of the UFL season continues with the St. Louis Battlehawks (3-1) visiting the DC Defenders (2-2) at Audi Field. Both of these teams compete in the XFL division. Coming into the week, St. Louis was tied with the San Antonio Brahmas for first place in the division, with the Defenders just one game back. Last week the Battlehawks were able to keep pace, with a 32-17 win over the Memphis Showboats. DC came up just short last week. The Defenders dropped a 20-18 game to the Birmingham Stallions in Birmingham. No. 2 Oklahoma retained its slim Big 12 Conference lead on Saturday, looks to wrap up a road sweep at UCF on Sunday

Three-time defending national champion Oklahoma (44-4) ran its winning streak to seven on Saturday as the No. 2-ranked Sooners escaped with a tight victory at UCF (28-20). Oklahoma, now 20-3 and leading the Big 12 Conference by a half-game, looks to close out the sweep in its final road series of the season on Sunday at the UCF Softball Complex in Orlando. UCF fell to 10-13 in the Big 12, good for sixth place in the 10-team league, as its losing streak reached five games. Since reaching its first NCAA tournament in 1994, Oklahoma’s streak of consecutive appearances stands at 29, with seven national championships in that span. The Knights have played in the last three tournaments.

Indiana (24-18-1) clinched its Big Ten series against visiting Rutgers (24-18) on Saturday and looks to complete the sweep on Sunday at Kaufman Field in Bloomington. The Hoosiers improved to 9-5 in conference play, good for fifth place two games behind conference-leading Illinois.
