No. 1 Texas A&M will be (39-6, 15-6 SEC) in Baton Rouge, taking on LSU (29-17, 7-12 SEC) in a three-game series at Alex Box Stadium at Skip Bertman Field. The series begins on Friday night. On Friday night the Texas Rangers (17-15) begin a 10-game road trip. This trip starts at Kauffman Stadium, where they’ll take on the Kansas City Royals (19-13) in the first game of a three-game series before traveling to Oakland and then Colorado. These games will be the first of the year between the Rangers and Royals. Both teams come into this one playing well. Texas just wrapped up a nine-game homestand that saw the Rangers go 5-3, with wins in three of their last four games in a series against the Washington Nationals this week. So far through five games in this first-round series between the Cleveland Cavaliers (3-2) and the Orlando Magic (2-3) home court has been held for each team. Cleveland got off to a roaring start with two blowout victories in games one and two at home, then stole Game 5 in the final seconds to take the series lead again. Orlando found its offensive rhythm at home in games three and four to even up the series crushing Cleveland by a total of 61 points. The difference between playing at home and on the road this series has been night and day for Orlando. At home they are averaging 116.5 points per game while on the road they have struggled, averaging just 90.6 points per game as a team. They will need another great home performance to send this back to Cleveland for a deciding Game 7.

For the series Banchero is averaging 24.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game in his playoff debut. Wagner is right there with him putting up 20.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. It is up to the rest of the Orlando offense that needs to step up around Banchero and Wagner if the team wants to keep its season alive today.

For Cleveland, despite holding a 3-2 lead in this series the team has not performed like a contender or a challenger in the Eastern Conference. As a team they are shooting just 43-29-76 shooting splits with All-Star Donovan Mitchell really struggling to find efficient shots going for 22.4 points, 4.4 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game on 42-23-86 shooting splits this series.

Lehigh looks to take down Navy for a second time this season when the two teams meet in the semifinals of the Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Tournament. The Mountain Hawks took on the Midshipmen in their first league match of the season and came away with a big 12-10 win. They shut out Navy in the second period to take control and then held them off to get the win. The Rockies are the first team since 1900 to have trailed in each of their 31 games to open the season. Colorado has lost five in a row and is coming off a series sweep against the Miami Marlins. The Marlins were the worst team in the NL before the series but that title has now shifted. The Rockies started that series up 5-0 in the ninth of the opener only to lose 7-6 in the 10th. The Rockies were trying to avoid the sweep on Thursday but lost 5-4, also in 10 innings. Jesus Sanchez hit a walk-off single in the extra frame after Colorado rallied to tie the game. The Rockies will try to bounce back by starting Cal Quantrill who is looking for his first win of the season with a 0-3 record with a 5.34 ERA.

The Orioles will be playing the first game of a five-game road trip that will also see them heading to Washington to take on the Nationals in a two-game set on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Orioles have been good this year, but did lose two of three to the Oakland Athletics last weekend. They then battle the New Yankees in a four-game series between the two top teams in the AL East so far.

The Fighting Irish have been one of the best teams in the conference and country this year and are looking to pick up a tournament title this weekend. First up is a match against a Cavaliers team on Saturday. They did trail the Cavaliers by two goals at halftime, but tied it heading into the fourth and then did it again in the fourth quarter to get the win. It was a battle for the Fighting Irish and one they will look to win again on Friday.

Drivers look for grid position on Friday afternoon in qualifying for Saturday’s Sprint race at the Miami Grand Prix

Formula 1 drivers look for some extra points in the standings this weekend during the second Sprint race of the 2024 season in advance of the Miami Grand Prix. Qualifying for the Sprint is set for Friday afternoon. The Miami International Autodrome hosts a Sprint for the first time since joining the F1 calendar in 2022. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, the three-time defending world champion, claimed the first Sprint of the year in China two weeks ago, part of a double-victory weekend that also saw him claim the top of the podium in the Chinese Grand Prix. The format for the Sprint changed this season to Friday qualifying ahead of Grand Prix qualifying.

The Sprint covers 62.1 miles or 19 laps around the 3.363 Miami International Autodrome. Surrounding Hard Rock Stadium, the temporary street circuit includes 19 turns as well as some elevation changes and three straights. Verstappen set the race record for the fastest lap on the course last year, turning it in 1:29.708.

Verstappen arrives in Miami with a 25-point lead in the driver standings over Red Bull teammate Sergio Pérez. The pair boasts four double-podium decisions in five starts this season, including Verstappen winning and Pérez placing third in China.

Charles Leclerc of Ferrari stands third in the driver rankings with 76 points, 34 behind Verstappen. Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz trails by 41 points and Lando Norris of McLaren holds fifth place, 52 points in back of Verstappen.

Coliseum Stadium is set to host the exciting matchup between home side Getafe and visiting club Athletic Bilbao on Friday in La Liga action.
